July 9, 1933 - January 27, 2021 Just as she would have wanted, Hilde passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Village of Winston Park in Kitchener on January 27th, 2021. Hildegard Silcher (nee Knies) was born on July 9th, 1933 in Fellbach Germany. She was predeceased by her husband Gerhard, her parents Josef and Helena Knies, her brother Erich Knies, and her son Frank. She is survived by her son Robert (wife Cathy) and grandchildren Sarah McLaughlin (Grant), Julia, and Ellie (Lucas) as well as her daughter-in-law Mireille Silcher, grandson Scott (Rachiel) and great granddaughter Leah. Hilde grew up in a large loving extended family in Germany. Her lively nature earned her the nickname “Wilde Hilde”. She loved music and as a teenager was a member of a dancing troupe. When she was 18, Hilde’s family immigrated to Canada, settling in Sudbury, Ontario. In 1952 she married Gerhard Silcher and they raised their two boys in Sudbury. Winters were spent in hockey rinks and summers at Big Lake on Manitoulin Island. Her outgoing personality served her well at her job as a cashier at Loblaws until she retired. Hilde and Gerhard enjoyed travelling and would reconnect with family in Germany every few years. After Gerhard’s death in 1989 Hilde moved to Waterloo to be with her grandchildren. Her new travelling companion became Aunt Ruth and the two widows shared many adventures together. When not busy with her grandchildren or travelling Hilde stayed busy with her many new friends in Kitchener Waterloo. She enjoyed cooking and was an excellent baker, but her favourite role was Oma to her four grandchildren. For the last 12 years Hilde has lived at the village of Winston Park. Dementia may have stolen her memories but never her feisty spirit. The nursing and support staff became her family and truly loved and cared for her despite the many challenges. We feel so blessed to have had them share her life with us. Throughout her life she touched many hearts with her enthusiasm, generosity, and great sense of humour. This is her legacy to us! Cremation has taken place. A memorial service celebrating her wonderful life will be scheduled in the future when we can all safely gather. She will be interred in Sudbury next to her beloved husband Gerhard. Memorial donations may be made to the Schlegel Villages Charitable Foundation (the Village of Winston Park) by contacting the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo at wwww.erbgood.com or 519 745-8445.

My Tribute Gift Foundation makes this online charitable giving portal web page MyTributeGift.org (the “Website”) available to you subject to your acceptance of and compliance with these terms of use (the “Terms of Use”). An official tax receipt for your donation will be issued by My Tribute Gift Foundation. Donations are sent out to charities at the end of each month for all donations received in that previous month. So a donation made on the first day of the month would be sent at the same time as one made on last day. Payments would be sent either by paper check or direct deposit. Please note that the there is 3% + 35¢/transaction fee for credit card processing, My Tribute Gift Foundation collects a 5% administrative fee. These fees help fund the cost of processing all donations, issuing tax receipts, and sending all appropriate information to the selected charity. These fees are assumed by your selected charity, but you will receive a receipt for the full amount of your donation. There are NO additional costs the charity has to endure to participate and accept donations through MyTributeGift.org. According to the American Institute for Philanthropy (charitywatch.org) a charitable organization is considered “Good” if they are spending less than 30% on administration and fundraising costs. My Tribute Gift Foundation helps reduce those administrative costs for charities and allows donors to contribute to lasting memorials for their loved ones.
When donating online, if the donation form has an option to add a tip, there is no convenience fee. The tip is optional and can be adjusted before you submit your donation. The amount of the tip will be displayed to you before you confirm the charge to your payment card. Tips are in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount that goes to the charitable organization. Under IRS and CRA rules, tips are not tax deductible to the donor.

Indemnity. YOU AGREE TO INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS THE FOUNDATION PARTIES FROM AND AGAINST ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, DEMANDS, ACTIONS, SUITS AND PROCEEDINGS BROUGHT BY YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY (COLLECTIVELY "CLAIMS") ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THIS SITE IN BREACH OF THESE TERMS OF USE OR THE INFRINGEMENT BY YOU OF ANY INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS OF ANY PERSON OR ENTITY, INCLUDING ALL LOSSES, LIABILITIES, DAMAGES, COSTS AND EXPENSES (INCLUDING ALL LEGAL FEES) ARISING FROM SUCH CLAIMS.
If in any part of these Terms of Use is held, by a court of competent jurisdiction, to be invalid or unenforceable, such part of these Terms of Use shall be eliminated to the extent permitted in that jurisdiction, for purposes of that jurisdiction, and the remaining Terms of Use shall otherwise remain in full force and effect.
These Terms of Use and your use of the Website are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and all federal laws of Canada applicable therein. The courts of the Province of Ontario shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of these Terms of Use or your use of the Website.
These Terms of Use constitute the entire agreement between you and My Tribute Gift Foundation with respect to the Website, except as we may explicitly agree otherwise in writing.. No delay or failure to exercise any right with respect to these Terms of Use shall be construed as a waiver by My Tribute Gift Foundation.
As a donor, you are responsible for researching the charity, understanding how your money will be used, and understanding the tax implications of your donation. We will email you a receipt, but the deductibility of your donation depends on your individual tax situation. We are not financial, tax, or legal experts. Please do not rely on our information to make decisions about your finances, taxes or legal matters. Consult a qualified professional in your jurisdiction.
Participating organizations have chosen to actively participate in the “Sponsor Program” to be represented in the Sponsor Charity array in an effort to increase their exposure and the opportunity for more memorial donations to be made to their organization. A rate structure is agreed upon and assessed on each donation processed through that program according to each organization’s individual agreement. Giving through that program has helped many organizations realize a drastic and significant increase in net donations.
If a donation form has a line item of Convenience Fee. The Convenience fee is displayed to you prior to approving the charge to your payment card. The convenience fee is in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount reaching the charitable organization. For example, a $100 donation becomes a $101.50 transaction. The convenience fee is directed immediately to a for-profit service provider. According to IRS and CRA rules the tax deductible receipt will therefore only be issued for the subtotal amount.
My Tribute Gift Foundation seeks to distribute all funds to organizations provided they have maintained active 501c3 certification in the United States or registered charity status in Canada. MTG relies on the beneficiary organizations to maintain and keep up to date contact information on file with the IRS or CRA respectively. This must be done in order for My Tribute Gift Foundation to exercise care and reasonable efforts to distribute payment promptly, without undue cost and burden to the foundation. In the event that a payment has not been deposited 12 months from issuance, the foundation reserves the right to utilize those funds in its mission to the foundation.
My Tribute Gift Foundation reserves the right to modify, change, discontinue and suspend these Terms of Use, the Website, and/or any services offered through the Website, in whole or in part, at any time, without prior notice to you. Your continued access or use of the Website after modifications to these Terms of Use have been posted on the Website shall indicate your acceptance of and agreement to be bound by these Terms of Use as modified. It is your responsibility to review these Terms of Use regularly.
