Valerie Foreman, 55, of Atlantic City, New Jersey was born in Atlantic City on December 9, 1966, to Malvenia Gooden and James Nelson Foreman. Valerie attended the local public schools and graduated from Atlantic City High School with the Class of 1984.
As a strong woman, she was a proud, loving mother to her children, Hassan Buffaloe, Ells Buffaloe, Turquoise Buffaloe, Valerie Foreman, and John Foreman. The things she was able to do and provide for her children as a single mother were nothing short of a series of daily miracles.
Valerie work for many years (she would say, "Too many years") as a security guard at many of the casinos in Atlantic City.
From the time she was a small child Valerie believed in God. While attending church, she was able to witness more than folks just praising God. She raised her children to believe in the power of the Almighty, but also made sure that they knew they that they did not have to attend church to pray or to praise God.
Always an early riser, Valerie enjoyed her morning routines – drinking a Pepsi and smoking a Newport.
Valerie took tremendous pride in being a mother. She believed that her children should know the world as it is – there was no sugar-coating on the facts of life. She was always straight forward and to the point with her children so that they would have no false illusions about the world as she had known it.
A huge fan of music. During the course of her life, Valerie amassed an impressive collection of albums – all still in their unscathed original covers. On the top her list was Whitney Houston and other favorites were Stevie Wonder, Sade, Jeffrey Osborne, just to name a few. Also as a part of her morning routine, she would have the stereo on high with her favorite tunes blasting throughout the house which could cause her children to duck under their pillows trying to get a few more moments of sleep or encourage them to get up ready to embrace a new day full of possibilities.
Left to cherish many wonderful memories of Valerie Foreman are: her children, Hassan BuffaloeElls Buffaloe, Turquoise Buffaloe, Valerie Foreman, and John Foreman; siblings, Anita Foreman and Tracy Smith; grandchildren, Sasha Lee Davenport and Taalib Watkins; nieces, Tiffany Wilcox, Shannon Lewis, and Mercedes Price; nephews, Timothy Foreman and Franklin Lewis; cousin: Mariah Gooden; aunts, Rosalee Overby and Annie Mae Parker; uncles, Ransome Gooden and Isaiah Gooden; and a host of other family and friends.
