.Miller, George Nigel Passed away peacefully at Greenwood Court, Stratford on April 1, 2020. George was born in Edmonton, Alberta on December 17th, 1921. He was the 7th of 9 children of James and Jessie (Mason) Miller. Beloved husband of the late Evelyn Jeanne (Edmonds) Miller (2009). Loving father of Gillian Beech (Barrie) of Stratford. Proud grandfather of Jeff Beech (Emily) of Sydney, Australia and Sean Beech (Cindy) of Stratford. Dear Great-grandpa of Hendrik, Theodore and Florence. Brother of Elizabeth Miller, Brentwood Bay, BC. Brother-in-law of Shirley Edmonds and Jennifer Edmonds, England. Predeceased by his parents, brothers Henry and Donald Miller, sisters Katherine Harrison, Ruth Wright, Margaret Miller, his twin sister Olive Bailey and a sister in infancy; brothers-in-law George and Geoffrey Edmonds. After enlisting at the age of 18, George trained as a pilot with the RCAF on the Tiger Moth and the Cessna. He sailed for England on the Queen Mary where he also trained on Beaufighters, Mosquitoes, Hurricanes and several other aircraft. An accomplished pilot, he patrolled the East coast of England and the North Sea with the 410 Squadron, also calibrating the very newly developed radar. In England, George met and married his wife, Jeanne, a nurse with the RAF. Returning to Canada, they lived in Winnipeg, Rockcliffe, Chatham NB, Goose Bay and Trenton where he worked in Photography and Flying Control with the RCAF. Later, George worked as a Resident Councillor at the School for the Deaf in Belleville for 21 years. After retirement, George and Jeanne moved to Stratford in 1988 to be close to their daughter, Gillian and her family. Joining St. John’s United Church, George became a board member, joined the building committee and helped with the installation of the Casavant organ. Here he met his dear friend, Earl Hackett, who involved him in driving for the Pre-School Program, Meals on Wheels, Stratford and Area World Aid, Habitat for Humanity and the Kiwanis Club of Festival City. George held many positions with Kiwanis and was presented with the Mel Osbourne Fellowship Award for meritorious service. He enjoyed singing with the Golden Oldies. A curious nature, a love of problem solving, George was always tinkering, fixing and creating. Volunteering his time and helping other people were among his favourite pastimes. It came as no surprise that in 2002 he was nominated for Citizen of the Year, and was honoured to be named Runner-Up. George was a proud Grandpa of Jeff and Sean. He spent many hours at the side of soccer fields and at the arenas, avidly supporting them in their athletic endeavours. George and Jeanne moved to Greenwood Court in 2000. Our family can’t express enough gratitude for the amazing support and care George received from the staff as he transitioned from the Apartment to the Loft and then to Long Term Care. Wendy Dunne and the Nursing Staff, the many PSW’s and volunteers at Greenwood are truly amazing and we feel blessed that he received such excellent and compassionate support. We hope and pray that all of you stay healthy as you continue to care so much for the residents in this exceptionally challenging time. Arrangements are entrusted to Rutherford Cremation & Funeral Services. Memorial Donations may be made to the Kiwanis Club of Festival City or Stratford Habitat for Humanity directly, or through Rutherford Cremation & Funeral Services by calling the funeral home at 519-271-5062 or by email at rutherford@jarfh.com. A Memorial Service will take place at Greenwood Court at a future date.

My Tribute Gift Foundation makes this online charitable giving portal web page MyTributeGift.org (the “Website”) available to you subject to your acceptance of and compliance with these terms of use (the “Terms of Use”). An official tax receipt for your donation will be issued by My Tribute Gift Foundation. Donations are sent out to charities at the end of each month for all donations received in that previous month. So a donation made on the first day of the month would be sent at the same time as one made on last day. Payments would be sent either by paper check or direct deposit. Please note that the there is 3% + 35¢/transaction fee for credit card processing, My Tribute Gift Foundation collects a 5% administrative fee. These fees help fund the cost of processing all donations, issuing tax receipts, and sending all appropriate information to the selected charity. These fees are assumed by your selected charity, but you will receive a receipt for the full amount of your donation. There are NO additional costs the charity has to endure to participate and accept donations through MyTributeGift.org. According to the American Institute for Philanthropy (charitywatch.org) a charitable organization is considered “Good” if they are spending less than 30% on administration and fundraising costs. My Tribute Gift Foundation helps reduce those administrative costs for charities and allows donors to contribute to lasting memorials for their loved ones.
When donating online, if the donation form has an option to add a tip, there is no convenience fee. The tip is optional and can be adjusted before you submit your donation. The amount of the tip will be displayed to you before you confirm the charge to your payment card. Tips are in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount that goes to the charitable organization. Under IRS and CRA rules, tips are not tax deductible to the donor.

TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL MY TRIBUTE GIFT FOUNDATION OR ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, SERVICE PROVIDERS, AND AGENTS (THE "FOUNDATION PARTIES") BE LIABLE FOR ANY: (i) INDIRECT, CONSEQUENTIAL, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, COMPENSATORY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES; (ii) DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF INCOME, LOSS OF PROFITS, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, LOSS OF DATA OR DAMAGE TO PROPERTY; (iii) CLAIMS OF THIRD PARTIES; OR (iv) OTHER PECUNIARY LOSS, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OF USE, THE WEBSITE OR ANY LINKED SITE. Indemnity. YOU AGREE TO INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS THE FOUNDATION PARTIES FROM AND AGAINST ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, DEMANDS, ACTIONS, SUITS AND PROCEEDINGS BROUGHT BY YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY (COLLECTIVELY "CLAIMS") ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THIS SITE IN BREACH OF THESE TERMS OF USE OR THE INFRINGEMENT BY YOU OF ANY INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS OF ANY PERSON OR ENTITY, INCLUDING ALL LOSSES, LIABILITIES, DAMAGES, COSTS AND EXPENSES (INCLUDING ALL LEGAL FEES) ARISING FROM SUCH CLAIMS.

As a donor, you are responsible for researching the charity, understanding how your money will be used, and understanding the tax implications of your donation. We will email you a receipt, but the deductibility of your donation depends on your individual tax situation. We are not financial, tax, or legal experts. Please do not rely on our information to make decisions about your finances, taxes or legal matters. Consult a qualified professional in your jurisdiction.
Participating organizations have chosen to actively participate in the “Sponsor Program” to be represented in the Sponsor Charity array in an effort to increase their exposure and the opportunity for more memorial donations to be made to their organization. A rate structure is agreed upon and assessed on each donation processed through that program according to each organization’s individual agreement. Giving through that program has helped many organizations realize a drastic and significant increase in net donations.
If a donation form has a line item of Convenience Fee. The Convenience fee is displayed to you prior to approving the charge to your payment card. The convenience fee is in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount reaching the charitable organization. For example, a $100 donation becomes a $101.50 transaction. The convenience fee is directed immediately to a for-profit service provider. According to IRS and CRA rules the tax deductible receipt will therefore only be issued for the subtotal amount.
My Tribute Gift Foundation seeks to distribute all funds to organizations provided they have maintained active 501c3 certification in the United States or registered charity status in Canada. MTG relies on the beneficiary organizations to maintain and keep up to date contact information on file with the IRS or CRA respectively. This must be done in order for My Tribute Gift Foundation to exercise care and reasonable efforts to distribute payment promptly, without undue cost and burden to the foundation. In the event that a payment has not been deposited 12 months from issuance, the foundation reserves the right to utilize those funds in its mission to the foundation.
My Tribute Gift Foundation reserves the right to modify, change, discontinue and suspend these Terms of Use, the Website, and/or any services offered through the Website, in whole or in part, at any time, without prior notice to you. Your continued access or use of the Website after modifications to these Terms of Use have been posted on the Website shall indicate your acceptance of and agreement to be bound by these Terms of Use as modified.
