Mildred Leonard Obituary October 16, 2021 Mildred Marie Leonard (nee Semanchik) died peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on October 16, 2021. Mildred was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey on October 1, 1927 to Frances and Andrew Semanchik. She was the oldest of five siblings and graduated from Battin High School. She went on to work at Schnitzer Alloy Products Company where she met her future husband Carroll Eugene (Gene) Leonard. They purchased and renovated their Cranford home and raised their three children in the wonderful family community of Sunny Acres. Mildred remained in their Cranford home for 63 years. In 2016, Mildred moved to Bordentown, New Jersey to be closer to her family. Mildred loved to travel the world and prided herself on climbing the Great Wall of China, seeing the Egyptian Pyramids, walking Red Square in Moscow and walking on the glaciers in Norway. Best of all, Mildred loved sitting on the promenade in Cape May watching “her Ferry”. Mildred also loved gardening, crocheting, making greeting cards for her family, sewing, cooking and baking. She was a beautiful swimmer and diver – starting with Lake Solitude in High Bridge. In her later years, Mildred enjoyed relaxing on her screened-in back porch. Dogs held a very special place in Mildred’s heart especially Jamie, Brook and Evie Mae. Her greatest joy in life was her family. Mildred loved celebrations particularly birthdays. She loved all of it – the singing, the cake and clapping when the candles were blown out. Among her many family trailer trips, in 1969, the Leonard’s rented a trailer and drove across the US. She enjoyed listening to her children playing in their backyard pool. In 1996, she accompanied Sue to bring Hope home from China. Over the years, she made countless trips to Michigan to be with Jim and his family celebrating all their important milestones. As a silver lining to Covid, Mildred lived with Cathy for the better part of the last two years. This was a very special time for them and Cathy was blessed and lucky to have her. Best of all, Mildred brought her entire family to her beloved Bermuda to celebrate her 90th birthday. Mildred truly spent her life in service of others. Starting in the 1970’s, she co-founded the Saint John the Apostle school library. She rose to the highest level in nearly every philanthropic and civic organization she was a member of: New Jersey Federation of Women’s Clubs, the Cranford Village Improvement Association, Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, Sixth District Past Presidents Club, Douglass College Parents Association, Mother Seton Regional Parents Organization and Raphael’s Life House. She cooked for the homeless at Saint Helen’s Parish and delivered Meals on Wheels in Union County. Mildred is predeceased by her beloved husband Gene and brothers Andrew and Bruce. She will be greatly missed by her loving children James (Susan), Susan and Cathy Ann, her grandchildren Claire, John, Keith and Hope Elisabeth, and her sister Barbara and brother Edward as well as many God sons and God daughters, nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 6:00 ~ 8:00 pm and on Thursday morning from 9:30 am ~ 10:30 am at the Bordentown Home for Funerals 40 Crosswicks St. Bordentown. Burial will be private. At the family's request masks must be worn in the funeral home during the visitation and in church during Mass. My Tribute Gift Foundation makes this online charitable giving portal web page MyTributeGift.org (the “Website”) available to you subject to your acceptance of and compliance with these terms of use (the “Terms of Use”). An official tax receipt for your donation will be issued by My Tribute Gift Foundation. Donations are sent out to charities at the end of each month for all donations received in that previous month. So a donation made on the first day of the month would be sent at the same time as one made on last day. Payments would be sent either by paper check or direct deposit. Please note that the there is 3% + 35¢/transaction fee for credit card processing, My Tribute Gift Foundation collects a 5% administrative fee. These fees help fund the cost of processing all donations, issuing tax receipts, and sending all appropriate information to the selected charity. These fees are assumed by your selected charity, but you will receive a receipt for the full amount of your donation. There are NO additional costs the charity has to endure to participate and accept donations through MyTributeGift.org. According to the American Institute for Philanthropy (charitywatch.org) a charitable organization is considered “Good” if they are spending less than 30% on administration and fundraising costs. My Tribute Gift Foundation helps reduce those administrative costs for charities and allows donors to contribute to lasting memorials for their loved ones.
When donating online, if the donation form has an option to add a tip, there is no convenience fee. The tip is optional and can be adjusted before you submit your donation. The amount of the tip will be displayed to you before you confirm the charge to your payment card. Tips are in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount that goes to the charitable organization. Under IRS and CRA rules, tips are not tax deductible to the donor.

TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL MY TRIBUTE GIFT FOUNDATION OR ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, SERVICE PROVIDERS, AND AGENTS (THE "FOUNDATION PARTIES") BE LIABLE FOR ANY: (i) INDIRECT, CONSEQUENTIAL, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, COMPENSATORY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES; (ii) DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF INCOME, LOSS OF PROFITS, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, LOSS OF DATA OR DAMAGE TO PROPERTY; (iii) CLAIMS OF THIRD PARTIES; OR (iv) OTHER PECUNIARY LOSS, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OF USE, THE WEBSITE OR ANY LINKED SITE. Indemnity. YOU AGREE TO INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS THE FOUNDATION PARTIES FROM AND AGAINST ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, DEMANDS, ACTIONS, SUITS AND PROCEEDINGS BROUGHT BY YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY (COLLECTIVELY "CLAIMS") ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THIS SITE IN BREACH OF THESE TERMS OF USE OR THE INFRINGEMENT BY YOU OF ANY INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS OF ANY PERSON OR ENTITY, INCLUDING ALL LOSSES, LIABILITIES, DAMAGES, COSTS AND EXPENSES (INCLUDING ALL LEGAL FEES) ARISING FROM SUCH CLAIMS.

As a donor, you are responsible for researching the charity, understanding how your money will be used, and understanding the tax implications of your donation. We will email you a receipt, but the deductibility of your donation depends on your individual tax situation. We are not financial, tax, or legal experts. Please do not rely on our information to make decisions about your finances, taxes or legal matters. Consult a qualified professional in your jurisdiction.
Participating organizations have chosen to actively participate in the “Sponsor Program” to be represented in the Sponsor Charity array in an effort to increase their exposure and the opportunity for more memorial donations to be made to their organization. A rate structure is agreed upon and assessed on each donation processed through that program according to each organization’s individual agreement. Giving through that program has helped many organizations realize a drastic and significant increase in net donations.
If a donation form has a line item of Convenience Fee. The Convenience fee is displayed to you prior to approving the charge to your payment card. The convenience fee is in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount reaching the charitable organization. For example, a $100 donation becomes a $101.50 transaction. The convenience fee is directed immediately to a for-profit service provider. According to IRS and CRA rules the tax deductible receipt will therefore only be issued for the subtotal amount.
My Tribute Gift Foundation seeks to distribute all funds to organizations provided they have maintained active 501c3 certification in the United States or registered charity status in Canada. MTG relies on the beneficiary organizations to maintain and keep up to date contact information on file with the IRS or CRA respectively. This must be done in order for My Tribute Gift Foundation to exercise care and reasonable efforts to distribute payment promptly, without undue cost and burden to the foundation. In the event that a payment has not been deposited 12 months from issuance, the foundation reserves the right to utilize those funds in its mission to the foundation.
My Tribute Gift Foundation reserves the right to modify, change, discontinue and suspend these Terms of Use, the Website, and/or any services offered through the Website, in whole or in part, at any time, without prior notice to you. Your continued access or use of the Website after modifications to these Terms of Use have been posted on the Website shall indicate your acceptance of and agreement to be bound by these Terms of Use as modified.
