This donation has been made by the Outdoor Education Group of 2000 in memory of our teacher, guide, and mentor Ross Hendershot. Our group of 15 had the honour to be Mr. Hendershot's final class in this program and it can be safely said that this course and Mr. Hendershot left a lasting impression on all of our lives. We all took so much from this semester together, it was the highlight of high school for many of us, and it inspired some of us to become educators ourselves. Mr. Hendershot's humour and mischievousness kept us all on our toes both in class and on our many valuable field trips. His vast knowledge of the outdoors, inspired our own curiosity in the world around us and that appreciation of nature has stayed with us. Our deepest condolences to the Hendershot family on the loss of their loved one. Take some solace in knowing that his memory will live on in us and no doubt all the students who were fortunate enough to have him as a teacher.

Ross Martin Hendershot, of Walkerton passed away at the Walkerton Hospital on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at the age of 76. Beloved husband of Margaret (nee MacGowan). Loving father of Christopher (Lori Crowe) of Toronto and Kyle (Erin) of Ottawa. Cherished grandfather of Emma and Zoe. He will be remembered by his sister Lois (Russ) Jackson of Burlington and brother-in-law James (Mary Ann) MacGowan of Waterford and missed by his many nieces and nephews. Ross was predeceased by his parents Earl and Marion Hendershot and parents-in-law Jim and Marion MacGowan. A celebration of Ross' life will take place at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Walkerton & District Hospital Foundation or the Residential Hospice of Grey Bruce - South Hospice would be appreciated. Marg, Christopher, and Kyle, my sincere condolences to you and your families. I have so many great memories of Ross, especially from high school classes and the geography field trips he lead. He had a huge impact on my appreciation for the area, and introduced me to many of my favourite places, like Tobermory and the Bruce Peninsula. I have missed his delicious homemade Bits and Bites (there was always a fresh batch when I babysat!) since my teenage years. He will be missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.

I am truly sorry to hear about Ross. He is an exceptional man and teacher. I am a former student (and friend of the Magwood family). I honestly think of Ross fondly as one of my favourite teachers--who made learning and the world come alive (he was my World Issues teacher--by far the best class) by challenging and encouraging his students, and having a great sense of humor. I also remember his amazing shortbread--and how he sent some along for me with Simone even when I was in post secondary education. It was so thoughtful. As a donor, you are responsible for researching the charity, understanding how your money will be used, and understanding the tax implications of your donation. We will email you a receipt, but the deductibility of your donation depends on your individual tax situation. We are not financial, tax, or legal experts. Please do not rely on our information to make decisions about your finances, taxes or legal matters. Consult a qualified professional in your jurisdiction.
Participating organizations have chosen to actively participate in the “Sponsor Program” to be represented in the Sponsor Charity array in an effort to increase their exposure and the opportunity for more memorial donations to be made to their organization. A rate structure is agreed upon and assessed on each donation processed through that program according to each organization’s individual agreement. Giving through that program has helped many organizations realize a drastic and significant increase in net donations.
If a donation form has a line item of Convenience Fee. The Convenience fee is displayed to you prior to approving the charge to your payment card. The convenience fee is in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount reaching the charitable organization. For example, a $100 donation becomes a $101.50 transaction. The convenience fee is directed immediately to a for-profit service provider. According to IRS and CRA rules the tax deductible receipt will therefore only be issued for the subtotal amount.
My Tribute Gift Foundation seeks to distribute all funds to organizations provided they have maintained active 501c3 certification in the United States or registered charity status in Canada. MTG relies on the beneficiary organizations to maintain and keep up to date contact information on file with the IRS or CRA respectively. This must be done in order for My Tribute Gift Foundation to exercise care and reasonable efforts to distribute payment promptly, without undue cost and burden to the foundation. In the event that a payment has not been deposited 12 months from issuance, the foundation reserves the right to utilize those funds in its mission to the foundation.
My Tribute Gift Foundation reserves the right to modify, change, discontinue and suspend these Terms of Use, the Website, and/or any services offered through the Website, in whole or in part, at any time, without prior notice to you. Your continued access or use of the Website after modifications to these Terms of Use have been posted on the Website shall indicate your acceptance of and agreement to be bound by these Terms of Use as modified.
