Mitchell Sherman McNeill of Egg Harbor Township, departed from this life on July 22, 2022. He was 66.
He was born on March 2, 1956, in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Mitchell first moved to Atlantic City when he was just 4 years old. The oldest child of a military family, he traveled the United States and even spent several years abroad in Germany during his youth. Returning to Atlantic City in his teens, he was a graduate of Atlantic City High School then went on to attend Atlantic Community College where is earned an Associate of Arts degree.
Mitchell was a giving person, extremely friendly, and never met a stranger. He enjoyed the beach and going fishing. He was hard-working, funny, loved to laugh and could TALK. These natural inclinations served him well when he found his niche, in the earlier times of the casino industry as one the city's most sought after Black-Jack dealers.
Mitchell worked in the casino industry for more than 20 years. He recently retired and was enjoying self-employment, working as he pleased, doing home renovations and repairs. Mitchell had an adventurous spirit, once traveling from Pennsylvania to California, seeing the sights, stopping along the way in Maryland, the Carolinas, Ohio, and Texas to visit with family.
Mitchell is survived by: three adult children, Derricke Dennis of New York, Tameka Barnes of Georgia, and Monique Funches, of North Carolina; his mother, Patsy Nelson of Georgia; four siblings, Joseph Nelson of Texas, Mikael Nelson of Georgia, Tim "Taiwan" Nelson (Melissa), of Maryland and Marcia Cedillo (Bruno), of Texas; eight nieces; two nephews; and a host of cousins; other family members; and friends.
Memorial services wil be Noon, Friday August 19, 2022, Greenidge Funeral Home, 301 Absecon Boulevard, Atlantic City, New Jersey. Face masks are required.
