Edward Dean, a devout Catholic, passed peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 28, 2021…. below is his life story, written in his own words. I was born in Philadelphia the 4th of 5 sons to Joseph and Alice (nee Wugofski) Dean. I was a graduate of St. John's High School; class of 1952. I was honorably discharged from the US Air Force in 1957 after 4 years of service. I attended LaSalle College and graduated in 1961 with a degree in mathematics. During the bachelor years I held many jobs. I helped a friend with a paper route; was a clerk at the local grocery store, even running it while the owner took a vacation. One of my favorite jobs was being a bat boy for the visiting teams for the Philadelphia Athletics during the 1950 season. I was a local celebrity for being on TV carrying out to center field sunglasses for Dom DiMaggio. Before joining the military, I worked as an oiler in a textile factory. During my military years I was a member of an electrical team which maintained a hydrogen bomb. It was the second fusion weapon built by the USA. During my college years I worked as a laborer in a textile factory, and glass factory and a clerk in a photo processing plant. During those years I loved to play softball, enjoyed throwing darts, struggled shooting pool, and developed a liking for beer. After graduating from college, I started work as a Mathematician/Computer programmer at the Naval Research Center in Dahlgren, Virginia, home for the 2nd computer built in the country (NORC). In 1963 I married my teen age girlfriend, soulmate, and love of my life, Beverly. I had an early start at raising a family with daughters Kathy and Kim. The family grew in the next years with a son Ed Jr. and daughters Gloria, Barbara, and Lee. I participated in community activities including coaching my son Eddie's little league farm team to a championship. For numerous years I was active and in support of St. Joseph's Parish. I helped write the by-laws for the parish council and was its first president. I was also a leader and participant of the parish lectors. I started working at the Tech Center in 1965 and continued there until my retirement in 1989. During those years I worked as a computer programmer, system analyst and system consultant. My most memorable job was writing the test procedures used for the purchase of the Tech Centers support computer. I also taught 2 semesters of computer programming at Stockton. My retirement years were spent actively engaged in my family's lives. I took pride in my children and grandchildren. I loved watching them participate in local sports, playing horseshoes, croquet, basketball, ping-pong and teaching them how to play chess. I loved being known as Gwhop to my grandchildren and their friends. I was a fan and supporter of all Philadelphia pro sports teams, as well as pro tennis. I enjoyed attending and betting at local racetracks and casino simulcasts. I was keenly interested in politics. Worked as a poll watcher during the JFK election. Briefly engaged in Somers Point elections. I used the letter to the editor in the AC Press to express my views on many subjects over many years. It was a beautiful, blessed, and wonderful life. In lieu of flowers, I am requesting donations be made to Feed the Hungry. Edward is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Beverly, son Edward Jr., daughters Kathy (Steve), Gloria, Barbara, and Lee. Grandchildren Steven (Chris), Jennifer (Brett), Christopher, Ryan, Rachel, and John, and great grandson Oliver. The services will be held privately.

My Tribute Gift Foundation makes this online charitable giving portal web page MyTributeGift.org (the “Website”) available to you subject to your acceptance of and compliance with these terms of use (the “Terms of Use”). Your donation will be processed through My Tribute Gift Foundation for distribution to your selected charity. Your credit card transaction record will appear as My Tribute Gift Foundation. An official tax receipt for your donation will be issued by My Tribute Gift Foundation. Donations are sent out to charities at the end of each month for all donations received in that previous month. So a donation made on the first day of the month would be sent at the same time as one made on last day. Payments would be sent either by paper check or direct deposit. Please note that the there is 3% + 35¢/transaction fee for credit card processing, My Tribute Gift Foundation collects a 5% administrative fee. These fees help fund the cost of processing all donations, issuing tax receipts, and sending all appropriate information to the selected charity. These fees are assumed by your selected charity, but you will receive a receipt for the full amount of your donation. There are NO additional costs the charity has to endure to participate and accept donations through MyTributeGift.org. According to the American Institute for Philanthropy (charitywatch.org) a charitable organization is considered “Good” if they are spending less than 30% on administration and fundraising costs. My Tribute Gift Foundation helps reduce those administrative costs for charities and allows donors to contribute to lasting memorials for their loved ones.
When donating online, if the donation form has an option to add a tip, there is no convenience fee. The tip is optional and can be adjusted before you submit your donation. The amount of the tip will be displayed to you before you confirm the charge to your payment card. Tips are in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount that goes to the charitable organization. Under IRS and CRA rules, tips are not tax deductible to the donor.
You warrant and represent that all information and materials you provide to My Tribute Gift Foundation, through the Website or otherwise, are accurate and truthful and do not violate third party rights. Indemnity. YOU AGREE TO INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS THE FOUNDATION PARTIES FROM AND AGAINST ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, DEMANDS, ACTIONS, SUITS AND PROCEEDINGS BROUGHT BY YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY (COLLECTIVELY "CLAIMS") ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THIS SITE IN BREACH OF THESE TERMS OF USE OR THE INFRINGEMENT BY YOU OF ANY INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS OF ANY PERSON OR ENTITY, INCLUDING ALL LOSSES, LIABILITIES, DAMAGES, COSTS AND EXPENSES (INCLUDING ALL LEGAL FEES) ARISING FROM SUCH CLAIMS.
If in any part of these Terms of Use is held, by a court of competent jurisdiction, to be invalid or unenforceable, such part of these Terms of Use shall be eliminated to the extent permitted in that jurisdiction, for purposes of that jurisdiction, and the remaining Terms of Use shall otherwise remain in full force and effect.
These Terms of Use and your use of the Website are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and all federal laws of Canada applicable therein. The courts of the Province of Ontario shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of these Terms of Use or your use of the Website.
These Terms of Use constitute the entire agreement between you and My Tribute Gift Foundation with respect to the Website, except as we may explicitly agree otherwise in writing.. No delay or failure to exercise any right with respect to these Terms of Use shall be construed as a waiver by My Tribute Gift Foundation.
As a donor, you are responsible for researching the charity, understanding how your money will be used, and understanding the tax implications of your donation. We will email you a receipt, but the deductibility of your donation depends on your individual tax situation. We are not financial, tax, or legal experts. Please do not rely on our information to make decisions about your finances, taxes or legal matters. Consult a qualified professional in your jurisdiction.
Participating organizations have chosen to actively participate in the “Sponsor Program” to be represented in the Sponsor Charity array in an effort to increase their exposure and the opportunity for more memorial donations to be made to their organization. A rate structure is agreed upon and assessed on each donation processed through that program according to each organization’s individual agreement. Giving through that program has helped many organizations realize a drastic and significant increase in net donations.
If a donation form has a line item of Convenience Fee. The Convenience fee is displayed to you prior to approving the charge to your payment card. The convenience fee is in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount reaching the charitable organization. For example, a $100 donation becomes a $101.50 transaction. The convenience fee is directed immediately to a for-profit service provider. According to IRS and CRA rules the tax deductible receipt will therefore only be issued for the subtotal amount.
My Tribute Gift Foundation seeks to distribute all funds to organizations provided they have maintained active 501c3 certification in the United States or registered charity status in Canada. MTG relies on the beneficiary organizations to maintain and keep up to date contact information on file with the IRS or CRA respectively. This must be done in order for My Tribute Gift Foundation to exercise care and reasonable efforts to distribute payment promptly, without undue cost and burden to the foundation. In the event that a payment has not been deposited 12 months from issuance, the foundation reserves the right to utilize those funds in its mission to the foundation.
My Tribute Gift Foundation reserves the right to modify, change, discontinue and suspend these Terms of Use, the Website, and/or any services offered through the Website, in whole or in part, at any time, without prior notice to you. Your continued access or use of the Website after modifications to these Terms of Use have been posted on the Website shall indicate your acceptance of and agreement to be bound by these Terms of Use as modified. It is your responsibility to review these Terms of Use regularly.
