Bruce Gregory Watts 1964 - 2020 It is with profound sadness and a broken heart, that I have to announce the sudden passing of my loving husband and best friend Bruce Gregory Watts, at the age of 56. After the most courageous and valiant, yet brief battle with cancer. Bruce passed away peacefully in my arms at home, on the evening of November 19th, 2020. Upon being diagnosed just this last August, Bruce chose the high road in every capacity. He chose to give cancer his best fight and to make the very best of each and everyday he could manage, within the boundaries the illness bestowed upon him. He accepted the ultimate outcome with tremendous grace and dignity. Affectionately nicknamed “Super Bruce” at the onset of his journey, Bruce proved to all those he encountered along the way and to those in our very strong and loving inner circle, to always be positive and never give up! Bruce was born to Bert and Lorraine Watts in Fort William, Ontario (Thunder Bay). He was very proud to be a life long resident, it was the only place he ever wanted to be. Being at home together was all we ever needed to feel complete. Bruce attended F.W.C.I and Selkirk High Schools. He was born with the gift of working with his hands, something he was always very grateful for. Along with a methodical mind and a common sense approach, Bruce could drum up a solution or a fix for anything he set his mind to, whether it be at work or life in general. Bruce was proud of the careers he was blessed with in his lifetime. Starting with Thunder Bay Hydro in maintenance and ending with Bombardier as a finisher. Both careers gave him tremendous satisfaction in working with his hands, applying his attention to detail and outstanding work ethic, making life long friends along the way. Bruce was a fan of cars in every way. A lifelong fan of Nascar, later on Formula 1 and he was extremely grateful to try his hand at Autocross Racing. His shop was always equipped with any tool one would need to fix anything mechanical or otherwise. Being a very proud and immaculate homeowner, nothing was ever left to disrepair or not improved upon. Our homes together were always a reflection of the man, the love we shared with each other, our family and dear friends. Bruce is survived by his loving wife and soul mate Alma. He is also survived by his brother Bert (Marilyn) Watts, sister Sandi (John) Carson, brother-in-laws Jim (Nancy) MacLean and Murray MacLean and sister-in-law Leeta MacLean. Also surviving are nieces Robin Cano, Erika (Rob) Melnyk and Cara MacLean, nephews Bert Jr. Watts (Tracey), Tyler (Veronika) Manning, great nieces Brianna, Clair and Chloe and great nephews Liam and Colin Jr. Bruce was predeceased by his parents Bert and Lorraine Watts, his grandparents, his father and mother-in-law Colin and Doreen MacLean and his brother-in-law Cameron MacLean. A sincere and heartfelt thank you to the Oncologists, Doctors, Nurses and Physiotherapists at the Thunder Bay Regional Cancer Centre, 1A-Oncology and 3 North at St. Joseph’s Care Group. The North West LHIN and Paramed teams for their Palliative care they provided in our home, where Bruce after two months in the hospital, so wanted and needed to be. We were so very grateful for all of your support and gentle encouragement to help Bruce and myself through this most unfortunate journey together. Thank you to our Cheadles family and to all who have sent cards, flowers, food and words of love and support. Thank you to Bombardier for lowering the flags in honour of my husband. A moment in time I will always treasure. Thank you to just everyone who stood proudly by my Brucie’s side, whether near or far, in support of the man he was and the outcome he had to face so bravely and without complaint. He will cease to amaze me all of my days. I will be forever grateful. “Have you been told today? I love ya Hun... Always and Forever x 10” I’ll be seeing you. As per Bruce’s wishes there will be no service, with a private interment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, friends or family who desire may make donations to the Northern Cancer Fund, or because Bruce was always very grateful to have a warm and loving home, donations if desired can be made to the local Shelter House. Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 332 North May Street, Thunder Bay.

My Tribute Gift Foundation makes this online charitable giving portal web page MyTributeGift.org (the “Website”) available to you subject to your acceptance of and compliance with these terms of use (the “Terms of Use”). Your donation will be processed through My Tribute Gift Foundation for distribution to your selected charity. Your credit card transaction record will appear as My Tribute Gift Foundation. An official tax receipt for your donation will be issued by My Tribute Gift Foundation. Donations are sent out to charities at the end of each month for all donations received in that previous month. So a donation made on the first day of the month would be sent at the same time as one made on last day. Payments would be sent either by paper check or direct deposit. Please note that the there is 3% + 35¢/transaction fee for credit card processing, My Tribute Gift Foundation collects a 5% administrative fee. These fees help fund the cost of processing all donations, issuing tax receipts, and sending all appropriate information to the selected charity. These fees are assumed by your selected charity, but you will receive a receipt for the full amount of your donation. There are NO additional costs the charity has to endure to participate and accept donations through MyTributeGift.org. According to the American Institute for Philanthropy (charitywatch.org) a charitable organization is considered “Good” if they are spending less than 30% on administration and fundraising costs. My Tribute Gift Foundation helps reduce those administrative costs for charities and allows donors to contribute to lasting memorials for their loved ones.
When donating online, if the donation form has an option to add a tip, there is no convenience fee. The tip is optional and can be adjusted before you submit your donation. The amount of the tip will be displayed to you before you confirm the charge to your payment card. Tips are in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount that goes to the charitable organization. Under IRS and CRA rules, tips are not tax deductible to the donor.
You warrant and represent that all information and materials you provide to My Tribute Gift Foundation, through the Website or otherwise, are accurate and truthful and do not violate third party rights. Indemnity. YOU AGREE TO INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS THE FOUNDATION PARTIES FROM AND AGAINST ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, DEMANDS, ACTIONS, SUITS AND PROCEEDINGS BROUGHT BY YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY (COLLECTIVELY "CLAIMS") ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THIS SITE IN BREACH OF THESE TERMS OF USE OR THE INFRINGEMENT BY YOU OF ANY INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS OF ANY PERSON OR ENTITY, INCLUDING ALL LOSSES, LIABILITIES, DAMAGES, COSTS AND EXPENSES (INCLUDING ALL LEGAL FEES) ARISING FROM SUCH CLAIMS.

As a donor, you are responsible for researching the charity, understanding how your money will be used, and understanding the tax implications of your donation. We will email you a receipt, but the deductibility of your donation depends on your individual tax situation. We are not financial, tax, or legal experts. Please do not rely on our information to make decisions about your finances, taxes or legal matters. Consult a qualified professional in your jurisdiction.
Participating organizations have chosen to actively participate in the “Sponsor Program” to be represented in the Sponsor Charity array in an effort to increase their exposure and the opportunity for more memorial donations to be made to their organization. A rate structure is agreed upon and assessed on each donation processed through that program according to each organization’s individual agreement. Giving through that program has helped many organizations realize a drastic and significant increase in net donations.
If a donation form has a line item of Convenience Fee. The Convenience fee is displayed to you prior to approving the charge to your payment card. The convenience fee is in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount reaching the charitable organization. For example, a $100 donation becomes a $101.50 transaction. The convenience fee is directed immediately to a for-profit service provider. According to IRS and CRA rules the tax deductible receipt will therefore only be issued for the subtotal amount.
My Tribute Gift Foundation seeks to distribute all funds to organizations provided they have maintained active 501c3 certification in the United States or registered charity status in Canada. MTG relies on the beneficiary organizations to maintain and keep up to date contact information on file with the IRS or CRA respectively. This must be done in order for My Tribute Gift Foundation to exercise care and reasonable efforts to distribute payment promptly, without undue cost and burden to the foundation. In the event that a payment has not been deposited 12 months from issuance, the foundation reserves the right to utilize those funds in its mission to the foundation.
My Tribute Gift Foundation reserves the right to modify, change, discontinue and suspend these Terms of Use, the Website, and/or any services offered through the Website, in whole or in part, at any time, without prior notice to you. Your continued access or use of the Website after modifications to these Terms of Use have been posted on the Website shall indicate your acceptance of and agreement to be bound by these Terms of Use as modified.
