I just learned of what happened to Nate just a moment ago, and it upsets me. Nate and I were roommates in Thunder Bay for a year. In that time we became good friends. I remember the day he moved in. Months later (when we had gotten to know each other better) he told me how his first day there he was so thirsty and when nobody was looking he leaned over the sink to drink out of the tap; he said he was too nervous to ask me for one of my glasses from the cupboard. Nate and I always discussed all kinds of issues, and we were often on different sides, yet always enjoyed each other's opinions. When Nate lived in Nipigon, I managed to visit him several times while I was still going to school in Thunder Bay. I imagine that I was one of Nate's closest friends when he lived there. Nate was one of the most unique people I've ever known. I think he was often misunderstood, and the obituary captures him so well. I'm very sorry for Nate's family's loss, and I'm proud to have known him so well.
