Carolyn Ruth Earley, 78, of Absecon, New Jersey died April 30, 2021, in the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center – Mainland Campus due to complications of COVID-19. She was born February 22, 1943, in Atlantic City, New Jersey to Marceline R. and George C. Earley. Carolyn attended the Atlantic City Public Schools and graduated from Atlantic City High School with the Class of 1961.
Carolyn began her working career at the Chalfonte-Haddon Hall in the dining room and later moved on to become an elevator operator in the Haddon Hall from 1962 until 1965. In February of 1965, she gained employment at the National Aviation Facilities Experimental Center (NAFEC) as an Air Traffic Control Simulator Operator. She remained there until 1981, at which time she retired as a Logistics Clerk. Once retired from NAFEC in 1981, Carolyn left her retirement to join the Atlantic City Police Department as a Complaints Clerk until her final retirement in January of 2013.
She was a member of Pleasantville's Faith Baptist Church where she served on the Frances Green Missionary Ministry and was also a member of Atlantic County Bethany Baptist Association Women's Auxiliary. God is first in her life.
Ms. Earley was a member of Atlantic City Order of Elks, and the Order of Eastern Stars/Atlantic Chapter No. 3, Atlantic City.
She is predeceased by: her parents, Marceline and George Earley; sister, Georgianna Earley and brother, Anthony Earley. Carolyn leaves to cherish her memory: her loving son, Frederick L. Thomas, Jr. of Absecon, New Jersey; brothers, James A. Earley, Sr. of Frankfurt, Germany and George C. Earley, Jr. of Delaware; sisters, Sheila Earley Mitchell and Julia Mitchell both of Mays Landing, New Jersey; and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be 11AM, Friday, May 7, 2021, Faith Baptist Church, 829 Tilton Road, Pleasantville, New Jersey, where friends may call from 10AM.
