MAZEROLLE, Eva Viola (née Brun) After years of consulting the obituaries in The Sudbury Star on a daily basis, I can finally declare that my name was in print on its pages. I was happy to have had the opportunity to celebrate my 90th birthday last month but early this morning on Tuesday, May 11th 2021, I bid you all farewell and give you one last big hug and kiss. I’m leaving you to be reunited with my first husband, Victor Mazerolle, my second husband and companion, Wilfred Digby, as well as my son-in-law, Ronald Martin. To my children, Gisèle Martin (late Ronald), Joanne Quagliara Mazerolle, Yollande Nepssy (Danny), Lise Mazerolle (Glenn Ryckman) and Conrad (James Lamore), I will always be in your hearts and memories. Rejoice in your memories of me with my grand-children: Russell, Curtis, Vanessa, Chantal, Darlene, Mathew, and my great grand-children: Félix, Alexie, Lia, Emily, Nathan, Sue-Anne and Daniel so that when you’re missing me, you can share with them the stories of my life; our trips together and our family gatherings, to celebrate in good company with good food and a glass or two of wine. Instill in them the love of life, the importance of friends, the love of reading a good book, the art of painting, playing golf, gardening, a good party, the adventure of travelling and exploring this great big world. I love you all very much and would like to thank you for the helping hand you’ve offered me on this journey we call life. I wish you all a long healthy and happy life. May you continue to gather together to celebrate each other in joy and laughter. I was born a proud Acadian in Bas Cap-Pelé, New-Brunswick in the spring of 1931, the 8th child of a family of 13 children of my late mother Élise Landry and late father Emery Brun, who always said that I was the prettiest. I’m happy to be able to join my late brothers and sisters in heaven: Lorraine, Léoline, Alfred, Aimé, Omer, Adrice, Maria, Aline, Armand et Régis. Laurida and Romuald, we will be waiting for you, but don’t rush it, you still have a lot of time to enjoy good feeds of lobster and nun-farts. Have some for me! As a lifelong educator of over 44 years. I started teaching in a one room schoolhouse in Dupuis Corner, New-Brunswick where we had to take down the crucifix from above the door when the superintendent came to do his visits. I moved to Sudbury in the early 50’s and taught in Dowling, then in the schools of Hanmer that belonged to the French separate school board. I taught various grades and was a guidance counsellor before being asked to work in special education for the same board where I assumed the leadership of the department as Director of Special Education until my retirement. You can say I’ve always held the success of my students close to my heart, but particularly those with learning disabilities. I’ve welcomed students from across Northern Ontario into my home so they could get the services they justly deserved here in Sudbury. I also instituted and worked at a day program for many years during the month of July to facilitate activities for children with physical and learning difficulties. During the summers, if I didn’t teach qualification courses for the French Teachers College here in Sudbury and across Northeastern Ontario, I was completing courses to obtain my bachelor’s degree from Laurentian University and my master’s degree in educational psychology from the University of Ottawa. It has been an integral part of my life to be at the service of my community. In the schools where I taught, I organized fundraising events for year-end school trips, extracurricular and sporting activities. With the help of fellow Maritimers, I co-founded the Acadian Reunions at my church and also sat on the St-Jacques Church parish committee. In the Greater City of Sudbury, I was a member of various boards of directors for different organizations: Valley East Community Action Network, Centre de Santé Communautaire du Grand Sudbury, Multicultural Society of Sudbury, Librairie francophone and l’Association France-Canada. To keep active during my retirement, my focus was on helping retirees live a full and happy life. As a board member, secretary or president of the French Golden Age Club of Hanmer (CCAOV) and the Northeastern Federation of Francophone older adults and retirees of Ontario (FARFO) and as a board member of the provincial FARFO, I helped organize programs that enabled older francophone adults to enjoy social, recreational and educational activities that taught them the art of growing old. I also assured a francophone representation on the Seniors Advisory Council of Greater Sudbury. Due to times being what they are, I am sorry to announce that I will have a funeral service for my immediate family only. In lieu of flowers, I invite you to donate to the Maison McCulloch Hospice in my memory. I hope you can join my family in a celebration of my life to be held later in the year once the pandemic is under control. I wish you well and know that I love you all very much. Your donation will be processed through My Tribute Gift Foundation for distribution to your selected charity. Your credit card transaction record will appear as My Tribute Gift Foundation. An official tax receipt for your donation will be issued by My Tribute Gift Foundation. Donations are sent out to charities at the end of each month for all donations received in that previous month. So a donation made on the first day of the month would be sent at the same time as one made on last day. Payments would be sent either by paper check or direct deposit. Please note that the there is 3% + 35¢/transaction fee for credit card processing, My Tribute Gift Foundation collects a 5% administrative fee. These fees help fund the cost of processing all donations, issuing tax receipts, and sending all appropriate information to the selected charity. These fees are assumed by your selected charity, but you will receive a receipt for the full amount of your donation. There are NO additional costs the charity has to endure to participate and accept donations through MyTributeGift.org. According to the American Institute for Philanthropy (charitywatch.org) a charitable organization is considered “Good” if they are spending less than 30% on administration and fundraising costs. My Tribute Gift Foundation helps reduce those administrative costs for charities and allows donors to contribute to lasting memorials for their loved ones.
When donating online, if the donation form has an option to add a tip, there is no convenience fee. The tip is optional and can be adjusted before you submit your donation. The amount of the tip will be displayed to you before you confirm the charge to your payment card. Tips are in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount that goes to the charitable organization. Under IRS and CRA rules, tips are not tax deductible to the donor.
You warrant and represent that all information and materials you provide to My Tribute Gift Foundation, through the Website or otherwise, are accurate and truthful and do not violate third party rights. Limitations of Liability. TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL MY TRIBUTE GIFT FOUNDATION OR ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, SERVICE PROVIDERS, AND AGENTS (THE "FOUNDATION PARTIES") BE LIABLE FOR ANY: (i) INDIRECT, CONSEQUENTIAL, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, COMPENSATORY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES; (ii) DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF INCOME, LOSS OF PROFITS, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, LOSS OF DATA OR DAMAGE TO PROPERTY; (iii) CLAIMS OF THIRD PARTIES; OR (iv) OTHER PECUNIARY LOSS, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OF USE, THE WEBSITE OR ANY LINKED SITE. Indemnity. YOU AGREE TO INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS THE FOUNDATION PARTIES FROM AND AGAINST ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, DEMANDS, ACTIONS, SUITS AND PROCEEDINGS BROUGHT BY YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY (COLLECTIVELY "CLAIMS") ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THIS SITE IN BREACH OF THESE TERMS OF USE OR THE INFRINGEMENT BY YOU OF ANY INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS OF ANY PERSON OR ENTITY, INCLUDING ALL LOSSES, LIABILITIES, DAMAGES, COSTS AND EXPENSES (INCLUDING ALL LEGAL FEES) ARISING FROM SUCH CLAIMS.

As a donor, you are responsible for researching the charity, understanding how your money will be used, and understanding the tax implications of your donation. We will email you a receipt, but the deductibility of your donation depends on your individual tax situation. We are not financial, tax, or legal experts. Please do not rely on our information to make decisions about your finances, taxes or legal matters. Consult a qualified professional in your jurisdiction.
Participating organizations have chosen to actively participate in the “Sponsor Program” to be represented in the Sponsor Charity array in an effort to increase their exposure and the opportunity for more memorial donations to be made to their organization. A rate structure is agreed upon and assessed on each donation processed through that program according to each organization’s individual agreement. Giving through that program has helped many organizations realize a drastic and significant increase in net donations.
If a donation form has a line item of Convenience Fee. The Convenience fee is displayed to you prior to approving the charge to your payment card. The convenience fee is in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount reaching the charitable organization. For example, a $100 donation becomes a $101.50 transaction. The convenience fee is directed immediately to a for-profit service provider. According to IRS and CRA rules the tax deductible receipt will therefore only be issued for the subtotal amount.
My Tribute Gift Foundation seeks to distribute all funds to organizations provided they have maintained active 501c3 certification in the United States or registered charity status in Canada. MTG relies on the beneficiary organizations to maintain and keep up to date contact information on file with the IRS or CRA respectively. This must be done in order for My Tribute Gift Foundation to exercise care and reasonable efforts to distribute payment promptly, without undue cost and burden to the foundation. In the event that a payment has not been deposited 12 months from issuance, the foundation reserves the right to utilize those funds in its mission to the foundation.
My Tribute Gift Foundation reserves the right to modify, change, discontinue and suspend these Terms of Use, the Website, and/or any services offered through the Website, in whole or in part, at any time, without prior notice to you. Your continued access or use of the Website after modifications to these Terms of Use have been posted on the Website shall indicate your acceptance of and agreement to be bound by these Terms of Use as modified.
