Dear Kaitlyn, I have been thinking of you and your family often, particularly your mother, after losing such a kind, positive and helpful Poppa, father and friend to many. I wanted to share this passage with you and your mom and sister, from a Richard Wagamese book, where he writes of an exchange between himself and a Wise Elder: ME: I miss my mother sometimes. Really bad. OLD WOMAN: Maybe try missing her really well. ME: How do I do that? OLD WOMAN: See that sunrise? See how beautiful the colours are? How clear and clean the air feels? How good it feels inside you? ME: Yes. It’s wonderful. OLD WOMAN: She lives in that. So maybe just say “Thanks Mom” when you see and feel things like that. * * * ME: I miss my mother really well now. I hope and pray you will miss your Poppa well. I have made a donation in honour of your Poppa to the Salvation Army to help miss him well. Much love to all of you Debbie
