Ellen "Loretta" Colao, 86, of Galloway, NJ passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Monday, May 16, 2022. She was born on August 1, 1935 in Darlington, PA to the late Joseph and Ellen (Brown) Lundy. She is predeceased by her two brothers, Jack and Bud Lundy and three sisters, Mary Grace Thompson, Margaret "Peg" Beatty and Alice Lundy Stuart. She is survived by her husband Roger Colao and her three children, Melissa, Roger (Sandy) and Linda Colao. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Nicole (Kyle) Murphy, Tracy (Jim) Frick, Zachary Colao and Brittany Metzlaff, her two great grandchildren Jack and Luke Murphy, three grand-dogs Cooper, Malo and Harley, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Loretta's vibrant life will be remembered by her love of life's simple offerings: tending to her garden, weekends spent on the golf course, completing a crossword puzzle in the morning paper, listening to Andre Boccelli, attending mass on Sundays and watching golf on the television afterwards. When she wasn't watching Tiger Woods play, she devoted much of her time supporting her grandchildren at their various extracurricular activities, rarely missing an event. Loretta was deeply committed to spending time with her family, often hosting dinners and holidays for her loved ones to gather, trade stories of their shared lives, laugh and eat at the dining room table that never had enough space for the amount of company she had generously invited. This is how she will be remembered: a rupture of unbridled laughter at the dining room table, the pleasure of completing a crossword puzzle in the morning paper, geraniums in the spring. She will be missed greatly by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Relatives and friends are invited for a Memorial Mass on Friday, June 3rd at 10:30am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish - Church of the Assumption, 146 S. Pitney Rd Galloway.
