Our deepest condolences to Deanna, Steve, Vicki, Lori, and the entire family. Mr Richard Dick Ruple is a very welcoming and caring man. He is very passionate about sharing his knowledge about sensors or his favorite heaters. He is patient when teaching about these subjects. I appreciate the time when he invited myself and my young daughter to his home. He took us into the woods on his property to show my daughter Sierra all the fascinating things to see. Richard “Dick” Charles Ruple passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at the age of 87, in his Hockley Valley home of over 40 years. Dick was born on February 17, 1936, in Chardon, Ohio. He was the third child of Richard and Helen Ruple. His lifelong love of the outdoors began with his childhood adventures exploring the area around his home near Lake Aquilla. In 1954, he graduated from Chardon High School and enlisted in the Air Force where he served for 4 years and gained an education in encryption and electronics. On December 23, 1955, he married his high school sweetheart, Deanna Rae Deia. He was stationed on the Pacific Island of Guam where their first child, Lori, was born. In 1958 they returned to Ohio where Vicki and Steve were born and where Dick started working in industrial electronics. In 1967, a job opportunity moved their young family to Oshawa, Ontario. Dick and Deanna started their own company, Mod-Tronic Instruments Ltd., in 1972 in Brampton, Ontario, which is still run successfully today by two of their children. In the late 70s they began traveling the world, going on grand adventures where they saw amazing sights and made new friends. The consummate outdoorsman, Dick enjoyed camping, fishing, heading out on the lake in a canoe or motor boat, cooking over a fire, whittling walking sticks, feeding chipmunks and sitting with family and friends by the campfire. Winters were spent snowmobiling through the woods and pulling kids on saucers in the neighborhood field. All his life Dick loved to create, invent and build things: birdhouses, bird feeders, a tent camper, a dune buggy, treehouses, furniture and toys for his grandchildren. In his late 30s his woodworking evolved into artistic wood carving. Many of his family and friends were given one of his charming and well-crafted totem poles, walking sticks, carvings or boxes. He loved his toys: riding his ATV, tractor, motorcycle, lawnmower, operating his backhoe and running his sawmill. What he enjoyed the most was sharing them with family and friends. Dick loved children and was generous with his time. When his kids were young, he was an assistant hockey coach, Cub Scout leader, Venturer leader and chaperoned a school trip to Rankin Inlet. Later, he mentored two young boys from the community offering them new experiences and teaching them new skills. Dick and Deanna invited the local Scout troops to camp on their 100-acre farm. He was a member of the Headwaters Carving Club, and the Nature Pole they carved on his farm property, is now located at Dragonfly Park. Dick and a few friends started a nighttime annual Christmas lighted tractor parade in Orangeville which ran for many years. In his later years, he especially enjoyed sitting in the sunshine on the back balcony of his home facing the river and woods, looking for wildlife and listening for birds. Dick will be greatly missed by Deanna, his wife of 67 years and his children, Lori J. Ruple and husband Barry Peterson, Vicki L. Ruple Lepe and husband Memo Lepe and Steven Ruple, and wife, Jennifer Arnold. He was the cherished grandfather of Melina Lepe, Kelsey Peterson (Christopher Wells), Carter Peterson (Katherine van Stolk-Cooke), Dalton Jake Lepe and Cole Ruple, who will deeply miss his mischievous sense of humour, endless fun activities, teasing and wise counsel. Dick was also the treasured great-grandfather of Astraea Lepe-Tabone, Flora Wells and Margo Wells. The sound of the voices and singing of his great-grand-daughters would always touch his heart and bring a smile to his face. He will be remembered fondly by other family members and friends, mentees, and members of the community. He was predeceased by his siblings Dorothy Wedge, Pearl Valvoda and Van Ruple. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Dods & McNair Funeral Home, Chapel & Reception Centre, 21 First St., Orangeville, Ontario on Saturday, November 18th, 2023, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. with memories and reflections to be shared starting at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider mentoring a child, teaching someone a new skill or craft, or sharing your love of nature. Or consider a donation in Dick’s honour to an organization that helps children like Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada (directed to Dufferin County, Ontario). A tree will be planted in memory of Dick in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville, Ontario. The 22nd Annual Dedication Service will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.dodsandmcnair.com.

Your donation will be processed through My Tribute Gift Foundation for distribution to your selected charity. Your credit card transaction record will appear as My Tribute Gift Foundation. An official tax receipt for your donation will be issued by My Tribute Gift Foundation. Donations are sent out to charities at the end of each month for all donations received in that previous month. So a donation made on the first day of the month would be sent at the same time as one made on last day. Payments would be sent either by paper check or direct deposit. Please note that the there is 3% + 35¢/transaction fee for credit card processing, My Tribute Gift Foundation collects a 5% administrative fee. These fees help fund the cost of processing all donations, issuing tax receipts, and sending all appropriate information to the selected charity. These fees are assumed by your selected charity, but you will receive a receipt for the full amount of your donation. There are NO additional costs the charity has to endure to participate and accept donations through MyTributeGift.org. According to the American Institute for Philanthropy (charitywatch.org) a charitable organization is considered “Good” if they are spending less than 30% on administration and fundraising costs. My Tribute Gift Foundation helps reduce those administrative costs for charities and allows donors to contribute to lasting memorials for their loved ones.
When donating online, if the donation form has an option to add a tip, there is no convenience fee. The tip is optional and can be adjusted before you submit your donation. The amount of the tip will be displayed to you before you confirm the charge to your payment card. Tips are in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount that goes to the charitable organization. Under IRS and CRA rules, tips are not tax deductible to the donor.

Indemnity. YOU AGREE TO INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS THE FOUNDATION PARTIES FROM AND AGAINST ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, DEMANDS, ACTIONS, SUITS AND PROCEEDINGS BROUGHT BY YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY (COLLECTIVELY "CLAIMS") ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THIS SITE IN BREACH OF THESE TERMS OF USE OR THE INFRINGEMENT BY YOU OF ANY INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS OF ANY PERSON OR ENTITY, INCLUDING ALL LOSSES, LIABILITIES, DAMAGES, COSTS AND EXPENSES (INCLUDING ALL LEGAL FEES) ARISING FROM SUCH CLAIMS.

As a donor, you are responsible for researching the charity, understanding how your money will be used, and understanding the tax implications of your donation. We will email you a receipt, but the deductibility of your donation depends on your individual tax situation. We are not financial, tax, or legal experts. Please do not rely on our information to make decisions about your finances, taxes or legal matters. Consult a qualified professional in your jurisdiction.
Participating organizations have chosen to actively participate in the “Sponsor Program” to be represented in the Sponsor Charity array in an effort to increase their exposure and the opportunity for more memorial donations to be made to their organization. A rate structure is agreed upon and assessed on each donation processed through that program according to each organization’s individual agreement. Giving through that program has helped many organizations realize a drastic and significant increase in net donations.
If a donation form has a line item of Convenience Fee. The Convenience fee is displayed to you prior to approving the charge to your payment card. The convenience fee is in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount reaching the charitable organization. For example, a $100 donation becomes a $101.50 transaction. The convenience fee is directed immediately to a for-profit service provider. According to IRS and CRA rules the tax deductible receipt will therefore only be issued for the subtotal amount.
My Tribute Gift Foundation seeks to distribute all funds to organizations provided they have maintained active 501c3 certification in the United States or registered charity status in Canada. MTG relies on the beneficiary organizations to maintain and keep up to date contact information on file with the IRS or CRA respectively. This must be done in order for My Tribute Gift Foundation to exercise care and reasonable efforts to distribute payment promptly, without undue cost and burden to the foundation. In the event that a payment has not been deposited 12 months from issuance, the foundation reserves the right to utilize those funds in its mission to the foundation.
My Tribute Gift Foundation reserves the right to modify, change, discontinue and suspend these Terms of Use, the Website, and/or any services offered through the Website, in whole or in part, at any time, without prior notice to you. Your continued access or use of the Website after modifications to these Terms of Use have been posted on the Website shall indicate your acceptance of and agreement to be bound by these Terms of Use as modified.
