Raymond A. Head, 57 of Malone passed away peacefully Thursday, August 12, 2021 at his home with his family at his side.
He was born August 27, 1963 in Rochester, NY, the son of George and Linda (Lowell) Head. He entered New York State Department of Corrections at the age of 18 and devoted 34 years of his life to his career. Raymond spent many years at the training academy in Albany, NY where he was a weapons training officer and defensive tactics instructor and a member of the Albany C.E.R.T. Hostage Rescue Team. He retired in 2018 as a Sergeant to fight kidney cancer. Ray was a devoted family man, who enjoyed spending time with his boys at the shooting range, hunting, fishing and camping as well as watching his boys play hockey. He spent many enjoyable moments with his family on Chateaugay Lake on his pontoon boat “The Office”.
Ray was predeceased by his parents, George and Linda Head; his mother in law, Carolyn McKinney; brother-in- law, Jack Legault; two nephews, Rocco Mastrontoni Jr. and Joseph Mastrontoni.
Left to cherish memories of Ray are his wife, Kelly Head of Malone; two sons, Kelsey Head and his girlfriend, Micaela McCarthy of Malone and Kyler Head of Malone; his beloved 4 legged companion Bo; three brothers, Jamie Head and his wife Annette of Plattsburgh, NY, Mark Head and his wife Glenda of Papillion, Nebraska, Clarence Head and his wife Carol of Mount Juliet, Tennessee; three sisters, Jennifer Pugliese and her husband Frankie of Plattsburgh, NY, Deborah Head of Saratoga, NY, Pamela Sullivan and her husband, Danny of Tennessee; his father in law, John “Jack” McKinney and his wife Ruth; two sisters in law, Karen Kim Legault and Kathy Seguin and her husband Andre. Ray is further survived by several nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
Calling hours will be Thursday, August 19, 2021 from 1:00-5:00 p.m. at Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Service, 568 East Main Street, Malone. A memorial tribute will follow at 5:00 p.m. in the funeral home. The family asks that you please join them to further celebrate Raymond’s life at 6:00 p.m. at the QWL Building at 109 Bare Hill Road, Malone, NY.
