Allen Massey

Allen Joseph Massey passed away peacefully at his home in Fort Worth, TX on February 22, 2020 after a years long struggle with Parkinson’s Disease. He died on his 87th birthday with his loved ones by his side. Allen was born in Philadelphia, PA on February 22, 1933 to Dr. Samuel and Mary Messey. Allen graduated at the top of his class from Ridley Park High School in Ridley Park, PA and attended the Moore School of Electrical Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania where he earned his Master’s in Electrical Engineering. He continued his graduate education and served as an Assistant Instructor and member of the research staff during which time he met his wife of 61 years, Margaretta (nee Aikman). Allen began his career at RCA in Moorestown, NJ in 1960, as prophesized in his high school year book 10 years earlier. He retired in 1997 after a 37 y career as a systems engineer and ultimately manager of special projects. Allen’s greatest joy in life was spending time with his beloved family. Over the years with them he enjoyed camping, canoeing, hiking, biking, tennis, golf, gardening, and traveling all over the United States, many countries in Europe, and Japan. As a member of the “Old Spokes” bike group, Allen pedaled many a mile throughout states from West Virginia up to Maine. He was an active member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Cinnaminson, NJ where over the course of time he served as a Youth Advisor, Elder, and Treasurer. Allen is survived by his wife Margaretta, brother Dr. Edwin Messey (wife Lois), sons Larry and Karl, daughter Susan Wilhelm (husband Douglas), grandsons Keith Massey, Bradley Wilhelm (wife Jessica), and Scott Wilhelm. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 7th at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 2618 New Albany Road, Cinnaminson, NJ 08077 with a calling hour at 10:00 AM and service starting at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Allen’s memory to above-mentioned Covenant Presbyterian Church
