DOREEN MARY GREEN November 29, 1942 – June 14, 2022 Mrs. Doreen Mary Green (nee Campbell) of Thunder Bay passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. Doreen was born in 1942 in Fort William to Gordon and Marie Campbell. Her brother Glen was born three years later. The family lived on Christina Street, in the heart of Westfort. Doreen attended public schools in Westfort, and was part of the first classes held in the newly built Kingsway Park School in her grade eight year. She attended Fort William Collegiate Institute, and this was where she met her husband to be, Jack Green, in her senior year. While in high school, she worked at the Mary J.L. Black Library. After graduating from Grade 13, Doreen attended Lakehead Teachers College, and graduated with her teaching certificate in 1962. Soon after, she secured a teaching job in Kenora, where she taught for two years before marrying Jack in 1964. Doreen then lived in Kingston, teaching there while Jack finished his education at Queen's University. The couple then returned to Thunder Bay, where Doreen taught special needs children at Twinhaven School. Doreen and Jack then had four children; Jeanette, Wendy, Anders and Stuart. Even while raising four children, Doreen continued teaching. She taught piano students in her home for twelve years, and taught evening art classes at Confederation College. Music and art were Doreen's passions outside of her family. At the age of seven, her father bought a second hand piano, and as the instrument was being wheeled into the living room, Gordon was teaching his daughter how to chord and accompany him while he played the fiddle. She studied piano and earned her Royal Conservatory Grade Eight level. Doreen played piano and organ at First Church United's Sunday School and near the end of her life at the Christian Science Church on Luci Court. She especially loved traditional fiddle music, accompanying first her father, then her brother, then her grandson Alec and then the Kam Valley Fiddlers. Doreen was also a gifted visual artist. She attended a summer course at the Ontario College of Art in the early 1960's, where visiting artist A.J. Casson of the Group of Seven, saw her portfolio, and encouraged her to continue painting. Doreen attended Lakehead University in the 1980's to take art classes. In her later years, she began sewing and designing quilts. Doreen will be greatly missed by her husband Jack, daughters Jeanette (Todd) and Wendy (David), sons Anders (Jenny) and Stuart (Kim), grandchildren Roslynn (Joe), Alec, Anna, Vernon, Gabriel (Klaudia) and Malcolm. She was blessed with four great-grandchildren, Karl, Louise, Lydia and Arthur, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and even a great-great niece and nephew. Doreen is survived by her beloved brother, Glen Campbell. As per Doreen's wishes, cremation has taken place. She will be laid to rest on Monday, July 18th, 2022 at Mountainview Cemetery (north side) at 1100 hours, with Reverend David Boyle officiating. After, a luncheon will be served at 540 Highway 130 from 1200-1500 hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in Doreen's name can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Lakehead Festival of Music and the Arts. Arrangements have been entrusted to the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James. “A wife of noble character, who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life. She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. My Tribute Gift Foundation makes this online charitable giving portal web page MyTributeGift.org (the “Website”) available to you subject to your acceptance of and compliance with these terms of use (the “Terms of Use”). An official tax receipt for your donation will be issued by My Tribute Gift Foundation. Donations are sent out to charities at the end of each month for all donations received in that previous month. So a donation made on the first day of the month would be sent at the same time as one made on last day. Payments would be sent either by paper check or direct deposit. Please note that the there is 3% + 35¢/transaction fee for credit card processing, My Tribute Gift Foundation collects a 5% administrative fee. These fees help fund the cost of processing all donations, issuing tax receipts, and sending all appropriate information to the selected charity. These fees are assumed by your selected charity, but you will receive a receipt for the full amount of your donation. There are NO additional costs the charity has to endure to participate and accept donations through MyTributeGift.org. According to the American Institute for Philanthropy (charitywatch.org) a charitable organization is considered “Good” if they are spending less than 30% on administration and fundraising costs. My Tribute Gift Foundation helps reduce those administrative costs for charities and allows donors to contribute to lasting memorials for their loved ones.
When donating online, if the donation form has an option to add a tip, there is no convenience fee. The tip is optional and can be adjusted before you submit your donation. The amount of the tip will be displayed to you before you confirm the charge to your payment card. Tips are in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount that goes to the charitable organization. Under IRS and CRA rules, tips are not tax deductible to the donor.
You warrant and represent that all information and materials you provide to My Tribute Gift Foundation, through the Website or otherwise, are accurate and truthful and do not violate third party rights. Indemnity. YOU AGREE TO INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS THE FOUNDATION PARTIES FROM AND AGAINST ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, DEMANDS, ACTIONS, SUITS AND PROCEEDINGS BROUGHT BY YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY (COLLECTIVELY "CLAIMS") ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THIS SITE IN BREACH OF THESE TERMS OF USE OR THE INFRINGEMENT BY YOU OF ANY INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS OF ANY PERSON OR ENTITY, INCLUDING ALL LOSSES, LIABILITIES, DAMAGES, COSTS AND EXPENSES (INCLUDING ALL LEGAL FEES) ARISING FROM SUCH CLAIMS.

As a donor, you are responsible for researching the charity, understanding how your money will be used, and understanding the tax implications of your donation. We will email you a receipt, but the deductibility of your donation depends on your individual tax situation. We are not financial, tax, or legal experts. Please do not rely on our information to make decisions about your finances, taxes or legal matters. Consult a qualified professional in your jurisdiction.
Participating organizations have chosen to actively participate in the “Sponsor Program” to be represented in the Sponsor Charity array in an effort to increase their exposure and the opportunity for more memorial donations to be made to their organization. A rate structure is agreed upon and assessed on each donation processed through that program according to each organization’s individual agreement. Giving through that program has helped many organizations realize a drastic and significant increase in net donations.
If a donation form has a line item of Convenience Fee. The Convenience fee is displayed to you prior to approving the charge to your payment card. The convenience fee is in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount reaching the charitable organization. For example, a $100 donation becomes a $101.50 transaction. The convenience fee is directed immediately to a for-profit service provider. According to IRS and CRA rules the tax deductible receipt will therefore only be issued for the subtotal amount.
My Tribute Gift Foundation seeks to distribute all funds to organizations provided they have maintained active 501c3 certification in the United States or registered charity status in Canada. MTG relies on the beneficiary organizations to maintain and keep up to date contact information on file with the IRS or CRA respectively. This must be done in order for My Tribute Gift Foundation to exercise care and reasonable efforts to distribute payment promptly, without undue cost and burden to the foundation. In the event that a payment has not been deposited 12 months from issuance, the foundation reserves the right to utilize those funds in its mission to the foundation.
My Tribute Gift Foundation reserves the right to modify, change, discontinue and suspend these Terms of Use, the Website, and/or any services offered through the Website, in whole or in part, at any time, without prior notice to you. Your continued access or use of the Website after modifications to these Terms of Use have been posted on the Website shall indicate your acceptance of and agreement to be bound by these Terms of Use as modified.
