Evelyn Thorpe Stallone, daughter of Owen and Ida Thorpe, born on August 10, 1923 in Sheffield, England, passed away peacefully today at 98 years old, surrounded by loving family. Evelyn was a loving mother of 6 children, Frank, Robert, Joseph, Marie, Peter, and Deborah; 14 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild. Evelyn met the love of her life, Frank, during World War II in Antwerp, Belgium. Evelyn was a member of the Royal Air Force and Frank was a Sergeant in the United States Army, receiving the Purple Heart for his bravery and service. For Frank and Evelyn, it was love at first sight and they instantly knew they were soulmates. Frank returned to the United States after the war. In the pursuit of love, Evelyn bravely left her family in England, embarking on a journey to the United States by way of the Queen Elizabeth II ocean liner. Evelyn and Frank married on February 23, 1946 in Middle Village, New York and were married for 69 years. Despite being an immigrant to the United States, she established deep roots here: learning Italian cooking from her mother-in-law, developing close ties with Frank’s family, and creating long lasting friendships. Frank and Evelyn raised a family in a home filled with love and good cooking in Middle Village and built a successful family business. In 1967, Evelyn and her family moved to Forest Hills Gardens, where she lived until the end of her life. Evelyn not only started a big family, but kept them together over the years. She was the foundation upon which the family was built and the core person who brought them all together. Evelyn built traditions that held up over decades: from Sunday dinners; painting eggs for Easter; seeing Santa for Christmas—so many memories at Evelyn’s house. Her door was always open for family and she always had a plate waiting for you. Evelyn’s marriage with Frank is one that we all strive to replicate. From the day they met, there was a spark that never extinguished during the 69 years they were married. Through all their years together they never lost the romance—a rare find. Her family is happy to know that Frank and Evelyn are reunited and can continue the love that they have always shared. Evelyn knew life was precious and short so she always lived it to the fullest. She had a youthful spirit, and always enjoyed a good time with good friends. Evelyn enjoyed playing the slots to the wee hours of the night with her friends, Broadway shows, playing cards on the weekends with family, and always looking her best—getting her hair done every week without exception. Everyone in the family had their own unique, special relationship with Evelyn. With such a big family there are so many different personalities—all of which Evelyn was able to relate to. You could be yourself around her and she loved us all for who we are. With Evelyn there was no judgment—just love. Evelyn always displayed strength and resilience. She never became bitter, angry or depressed—no matter the hardship. Evelyn always moved forward in a loving way and strived to enjoy life. She appreciated how precious our time here is and lived life her way up until the very end. She will be deeply missed by her family who will carry on her spirit and legacy for generations. My Tribute Gift Foundation makes this online charitable giving portal web page MyTributeGift.org (the “Website”) available to you subject to your acceptance of and compliance with these terms of use (the “Terms of Use”). Your donation will be processed through My Tribute Gift Foundation for distribution to your selected charity. Your credit card transaction record will appear as My Tribute Gift Foundation. An official tax receipt for your donation will be issued by My Tribute Gift Foundation. Donations are sent out to charities at the end of each month for all donations received in that previous month. So a donation made on the first day of the month would be sent at the same time as one made on last day. Payments would be sent either by paper check or direct deposit. Please note that the there is 3% + 35¢/transaction fee for credit card processing, My Tribute Gift Foundation collects a 5% administrative fee. These fees help fund the cost of processing all donations, issuing tax receipts, and sending all appropriate information to the selected charity. These fees are assumed by your selected charity, but you will receive a receipt for the full amount of your donation. There are NO additional costs the charity has to endure to participate and accept donations through MyTributeGift.org. According to the American Institute for Philanthropy (charitywatch.org) a charitable organization is considered “Good” if they are spending less than 30% on administration and fundraising costs. My Tribute Gift Foundation helps reduce those administrative costs for charities and allows donors to contribute to lasting memorials for their loved ones.
When donating online, if the donation form has an option to add a tip, there is no convenience fee. The tip is optional and can be adjusted before you submit your donation. The amount of the tip will be displayed to you before you confirm the charge to your payment card. Tips are in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount that goes to the charitable organization. Under IRS and CRA rules, tips are not tax deductible to the donor.
You warrant and represent that all information and materials you provide to My Tribute Gift Foundation, through the Website or otherwise, are accurate and truthful and do not violate third party rights. Indemnity. YOU AGREE TO INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS THE FOUNDATION PARTIES FROM AND AGAINST ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, DEMANDS, ACTIONS, SUITS AND PROCEEDINGS BROUGHT BY YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY (COLLECTIVELY "CLAIMS") ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THIS SITE IN BREACH OF THESE TERMS OF USE OR THE INFRINGEMENT BY YOU OF ANY INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS OF ANY PERSON OR ENTITY, INCLUDING ALL LOSSES, LIABILITIES, DAMAGES, COSTS AND EXPENSES (INCLUDING ALL LEGAL FEES) ARISING FROM SUCH CLAIMS.
If in any part of these Terms of Use is held, by a court of competent jurisdiction, to be invalid or unenforceable, such part of these Terms of Use shall be eliminated to the extent permitted in that jurisdiction, for purposes of that jurisdiction, and the remaining Terms of Use shall otherwise remain in full force and effect.
These Terms of Use and your use of the Website are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and all federal laws of Canada applicable therein. The courts of the Province of Ontario shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of these Terms of Use or your use of the Website.
These Terms of Use constitute the entire agreement between you and My Tribute Gift Foundation with respect to the Website, except as we may explicitly agree otherwise in writing.. No delay or failure to exercise any right with respect to these Terms of Use shall be construed as a waiver by My Tribute Gift Foundation.
As a donor, you are responsible for researching the charity, understanding how your money will be used, and understanding the tax implications of your donation. We will email you a receipt, but the deductibility of your donation depends on your individual tax situation. We are not financial, tax, or legal experts. Please do not rely on our information to make decisions about your finances, taxes or legal matters. Consult a qualified professional in your jurisdiction.
Participating organizations have chosen to actively participate in the “Sponsor Program” to be represented in the Sponsor Charity array in an effort to increase their exposure and the opportunity for more memorial donations to be made to their organization. A rate structure is agreed upon and assessed on each donation processed through that program according to each organization’s individual agreement. Giving through that program has helped many organizations realize a drastic and significant increase in net donations.
If a donation form has a line item of Convenience Fee. The Convenience fee is displayed to you prior to approving the charge to your payment card. The convenience fee is in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount reaching the charitable organization. For example, a $100 donation becomes a $101.50 transaction. The convenience fee is directed immediately to a for-profit service provider. According to IRS and CRA rules the tax deductible receipt will therefore only be issued for the subtotal amount.
My Tribute Gift Foundation seeks to distribute all funds to organizations provided they have maintained active 501c3 certification in the United States or registered charity status in Canada. MTG relies on the beneficiary organizations to maintain and keep up to date contact information on file with the IRS or CRA respectively. This must be done in order for My Tribute Gift Foundation to exercise care and reasonable efforts to distribute payment promptly, without undue cost and burden to the foundation. In the event that a payment has not been deposited 12 months from issuance, the foundation reserves the right to utilize those funds in its mission to the foundation.
My Tribute Gift Foundation reserves the right to modify, change, discontinue and suspend these Terms of Use, the Website, and/or any services offered through the Website, in whole or in part, at any time, without prior notice to you. Your continued access or use of the Website after modifications to these Terms of Use have been posted on the Website shall indicate your acceptance of and agreement to be bound by these Terms of Use as modified. It is your responsibility to review these Terms of Use regularly.
