Hellen Grabow, age 95, of Renville, MN died on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at RenVilla Nursing Home. Memorial services will be Thursday, June 3rd, at 11:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Renville with Pastor David Severtson officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Memorials are preferred. Arrangements are with Dirks-Blem Funeral Service of Renville.
Hellen Grabow was born to John and Elsie (Prosch) Piehl on March 1, 1926 at Aitkin, Minnesota. As a young child the family moved to Hector. Hellen graduated from high school in 1944 and took a bookkeeping course. She worked at Brookfield Seed Company as a secretary. She worked at Farmers Lumber Company and Farmers Co-op Oil Company as well. On September 21, 1951 she was united in marriage to Roger Grabow at the United Methodist Church in Hector and together they raised four children. Hellen liked to keep busy by reading, knitting, Swedish weaving and hardanger. Hellen also enjoyed watching baseball on TV. She was an excellent cook and kept her family well fed. Hellen will be remembered for her quick wit and great sense of humor.
Hellen is survived by her children: Jane (and Steve) Krenik of Madison Lake, Mary (and Rich) Jepson of Granite Falls, Tim (and Becky) of Madison Lake, and Mark (and Anita) of Renville; her 13 grandchildren; her 31 great-grandchildren; her two sisters, Audrey Wolff and Ann (and Lloyd) Goerke; her two sisters-in-law, Frances Piehl and Donna Piehl; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Hellen was preceded in death by her husband, Roger; her brothers: Ray (Muriel) Piehl, Warren Piehl, and Doug Piehl; her sisters: Delores (Bob) Olson, Dorothy (Willus) Evert, Marlys (Gordon) Kubesh; and her brother-in-law, Jim Wolff.
