Raymond Eugene Dougherty Sr. passed away on September 13, 2021 at Vassar Hospital in Poughkeepsie, New York. Raymond was 81 years old. Raymond was born on November 11, 1939 in Poughkeepsie, New York. Raymond was the son of Thomas and Martha Dougherty.
Raymond spent over 50 years in the meat business serving as a butcher, manager and plant production supervisor for Grand Union and Shop Rite. Raymond was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving in Korea. Raymond was a member of the Elks and VFW.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 57 years, Mary Jane Dougherty, of Clintondale New York, his Son Raymond Eugene Jr of Clintondale New York, his Son Dan Dougherty and Daughter in Law Vicky Dougherty of Washington Township, New Jersey. His beloved grandchildren Michael Dougherty of New Paltz New York, Mackenzie Dougherty, Thomas Dougherty and Miranda Dougherty of Washington Township, New Jersey
Raymond was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Raymond lived his life with great compassion and selflessness. He loved spending time with family and friends and took great pride in his grandchildren. One of 16 children, Raymond adored his mother and cared deeply for his sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews. He made sure to connect in his own way with each of them.
Raymond loved the water and caring for his lawn and could often be found taking in the sun with his beverage of choice in hand. Raymond was always welcoming and inclusive of others and will be remembered for his never-ending smile and quick wit.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the DiDonato Funeral Home, 1290 Route 9W, Marlboro, New York.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 12:30pm at the funeral home with Pastor Albert Hahn officiating.
Inurnment will follow in Cedar Hill Mausoleum, 5468 Route 9W, Newburgh, NY.
