William Wilson

William “Bill” G. Wilson, 63, of Rivesville, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2020 after a valiant battle with cancer. Bill proudly served his country and retired from the United States Marine Corps as Gunnery Sergeant with twenty years of service. He later worked with Ruskin as a supervisor. Bill was an avid fisherman, hunter, and coon hunter. He loved being on his farm, gardening, watching his birds, and working the land. Known by many as “Uncle Bill” his kindness, generosity, humor, and non-judgemental ways touched everyone he knew. The man he was, the life he led, the love he gave will always be indelible to all those blessed to have loved and known him. In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by father Donald and his wife Sharlotta Wilson, his siblings, Susan and her husband Fred Hamrick of Monumental, David and his wife Rhonda Wilson and his niece Cortney Wilson all of Florida, Donald Wilson of Baxter, and Robert Wilson of Bellview. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Cynthia and her husband Robert Shelly, his “kids” and godchildren, Helen Kay and her husband Chad Pethtel, Robert William Shelly and his companion Desirae, his great niece Brianna, great nephew Bradly Pethtel, mother-in-law, Vivian Falanga, brother-in-law, Michael and his wife Patty Falanga, special friends Matthew and Voni Biggie and family, as well as several nieces, nephews, friends and relatives. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Angelo Falanga. The family has entrusted care and arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV. We appreciate in the unknown time with the COVID-19 pandemic that attending a visitation may not be in your best interest. Please be with us in prayer. Should you be able to celebrate his life, the family respectfully requests that masks be worn by all visitors and social distancing be practiced. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday, September 17, 2020 from 4PM until 8PM, and on Friday, September 18, 2020 from 10AM until 11AM. The funeral will be held in the funeral home on Friday, September 18, 2020 at 11AM with Reverend David Wilson officiating. The interment will follow at the WV National Cemetery in Pruntytown, WV.
