Laurel Dee Hubbell,1944-2023 Our beloved wife, mother, Lovey, sister, aunt, friend and daughter of Christ peacefully entered Heaven January 18, 2023; at the age of 78. She was born November 1, 1944, in San Diego, California, to her loving parents Harley Lee and Amie Dee Neighbors, and also to her one and only favorite older brother Robert “Bob” (whom all have preceded her in death). She was given the name Laurel Dee by her parents, however the nurses at the time of her birth nicknamed her “Suzie Q” and to many of you and her family that is how you know her as “Sue”. She and her family moved to Pittsburg, Texas where she graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1962. She then attended East Texas Baptist College for two years before transferring to East Texas State University and then graduating in 1965. She was saved and baptized as a freshman while in college at ETBU. She began her teaching career in Rosenberg, Texas, in 1966, where she joined Calvary Baptist Church. This is where she met the love of her life and soon beloved husband Dan Richard Hubbell. They were married February 13, 1967; and have spent 56 wonderful years together in ministry, traveling the world on mission trips, writing books together, and counseling many families in the church. She has two sons. Dan and wife Nancy, of Sulphur Springs, Texas; David and wife Kristi of Spring Hill, Florida. After moving to Winnsboro, her husband became the pastor of First Baptist Church, 1969-1979, while she served these years as pastor’s wife, mother to two rambunctious, trouble-making little boys, and a public school teacher in Winnsboro and Como ISD. After much prayer she and Dan decided to travel as missionaries to South Africa, France, China, and various places in the US; they did Missions work in a total of 27 Nations of the World. She taught school in Pittsburg ISD, until they made the decision to home school the boys until their high school graduation. Her greatest love was serving others and she did this for over 12 years when they purchased and renovated Thee Hubbell House Bed & Breakfast; 1987-1999. She then took her love of teaching back to the classroom, however this time it was at the Johnston Unit of Texas Department of Criminal Justice as a GED teacher from 1995-2010. There she had the privilege to graduate over 1500 men with their GED. She was honored as “Teacher of the Year” while employed at the prison. She retired from teaching in 2010; but continued to do ministry work in the local Winnsboro and surrounding areas with her husband and her very close ladies bible group. She valued the relationships with her family member who are pastors and love the Lord as much as she did. Her brother-in-law Pastor Mickey Hubbell, nephews Pastor John D. Cooke, Pastor Shiles Hubbell, grandson Pastor Lance Bass, and her most loved Pastor her husband Dan Hubbell. She also has a dear and loving sister-in-law Ann Neighbors of Austin, Tx that was married to her late brother Bob; and many, nieces, nephews, cousins, students she taught, dear friends all over that she loved and admired. She has accomplished so many milestones in her life, but her most joyous, treasured one happened over 31 years ago when she became “LOVEY”. Since then, she has only grown that title grand by grand, followed by great-grand, and most recently great-great-grand. Her Grands were her world and she never missed a birthday that she and Poppa-D would not call and sing “Happy Birthday” to each and every one of them or she never missed an opportunity to “play the piano”; which was not the typical way. Each Grand-Child loved when Lovey would come to visit, they would lay on the floor; raise their shirt, hold their ears, and she would “play the piano” on their ribs. She leaves behind her grandchildren Kaci and husband Lance Bass; Jacob and wife Courtney Hubbell, Bailee and TJ Hubbell; all of Tampa, Florida. Heather and husband Erik Nash; Houston, Texas, (the late Dale McPhearson). Great Grands: Caden, Ben, Harley, Paislee Bass, Jaxtyn Hubbell, Zaine, Zayde, Bentley Nash, and Brianna McPhearson Great Great Grand: Lakelynn Nash. Lovey leaves a Legacy that we are all so very proud to share. As she was a true Proverbs 31 WOMAN. So a donation made on the first day of the month would be sent at the same time as one made on last day. Payments would be sent either by paper check or direct deposit. Please note that the there is 3% + 35¢/transaction fee for credit card processing, My Tribute Gift Foundation collects a 5% administrative fee. These fees help fund the cost of processing all donations, issuing tax receipts, and sending all appropriate information to the selected charity. These fees are assumed by your selected charity, but you will receive a receipt for the full amount of your donation. There are NO additional costs the charity has to endure to participate and accept donations through MyTributeGift.org. According to the American Institute for Philanthropy (charitywatch.org) a charitable organization is considered “Good” if they are spending less than 30% on administration and fundraising costs. My Tribute Gift Foundation helps reduce those administrative costs for charities and allows donors to contribute to lasting memorials for their loved ones.
When donating online, if the donation form has an option to add a tip, there is no convenience fee. The tip is optional and can be adjusted before you submit your donation. The amount of the tip will be displayed to you before you confirm the charge to your payment card. Tips are in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount that goes to the charitable organization. Under IRS and CRA rules, tips are not tax deductible to the donor.

As a donor, you are responsible for researching the charity, understanding how your money will be used, and understanding the tax implications of your donation. We will email you a receipt, but the deductibility of your donation depends on your individual tax situation. We are not financial, tax, or legal experts. Please do not rely on our information to make decisions about your finances, taxes or legal matters. Consult a qualified professional in your jurisdiction.
Participating organizations have chosen to actively participate in the “Sponsor Program” to be represented in the Sponsor Charity array in an effort to increase their exposure and the opportunity for more memorial donations to be made to their organization. A rate structure is agreed upon and assessed on each donation processed through that program according to each organization’s individual agreement. Giving through that program has helped many organizations realize a drastic and significant increase in net donations.
If a donation form has a line item of Convenience Fee. The Convenience fee is displayed to you prior to approving the charge to your payment card. The convenience fee is in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount reaching the charitable organization. For example, a $100 donation becomes a $101.50 transaction. The convenience fee is directed immediately to a for-profit service provider. According to IRS and CRA rules the tax deductible receipt will therefore only be issued for the subtotal amount.
My Tribute Gift Foundation seeks to distribute all funds to organizations provided they have maintained active 501c3 certification in the United States or registered charity status in Canada. MTG relies on the beneficiary organizations to maintain and keep up to date contact information on file with the IRS or CRA respectively. This must be done in order for My Tribute Gift Foundation to exercise care and reasonable efforts to distribute payment promptly, without undue cost and burden to the foundation. In the event that a payment has not been deposited 12 months from issuance, the foundation reserves the right to utilize those funds in its mission to the foundation.
My Tribute Gift Foundation reserves the right to modify, change, discontinue and suspend these Terms of Use, the Website, and/or any services offered through the Website, in whole or in part, at any time, without prior notice to you. Your continued access or use of the Website after modifications to these Terms of Use have been posted on the Website shall indicate your acceptance of and agreement to be bound by these Terms of Use as modified.
