Caly and family. Thinking of you, With our deepest sympathies. Don was a caring, thoughtful, man to his family and wide circle of friends. Don was a pundit who was eager to offer his opinion or commentary in a particular area, most typically related to politics. I remember when I arrived at Loyalist, I had just retired from the Ministry of Education working with McGuinty and Kathleen Winn as Minister of Education. It didn’t take me long to realiZe that Don wasn’t happy with the current government at that time. Although we didn’t agree, we had many future conversations about Politics, .education, etc. Bruce and I will miss Don , our ‘fine conversations, and friendship. Don was always helpful. One day I was sitting in the snow outside of the Bates’ house and he stopped to pick me up as he thought I had fallen. He was a wonderful grandfather and always made sure that our granddaughter Bella was included in games that he prepared for the children at your parties.
