David C. Whitlock, 65 of Atlantic City, New Jersey was born August 3, 1955, to Anna Ruth and Allen Whitlock in the Atlantic City Hospital in Atlantic City, New Jersey. David has been an Atlantic City resident most of his life. He attended the Atlantic City and Baltimore Public School Systems. David was one of 14 children born to Mr. & Mrs. Whitlock.
After finishing school, David held a host of odd jobs. Finally landing employment with Rickles Department Store in Egg Harbor Township where he was employed more than ten years until they closed in the early 1980's. Once Rickles closed, David found other employment in the quickly growing casino industry. He soon became a houseman in Resorts International Casino Hotel, where he was employed from 1974 until 1990. After leaving Resorts, David working for the Atlantic City Housing Authority mainly at the Shore Park Highrise Building doing odd jobs.
David also lived at Shore Park for many years until his death. He was respected and adored by his neighbors and all who knew him. He quickly become friends with many of the other residents. David was well liked by his building managers and the many residents who depended on him to do the odd jobs that they could no longer do for themselves.
David later fell in love with Alzada McNeil. When he and Alzada married, he gained a step-daughter, Turia McNeil . David remained married to Alzada until her passing in 2003.
Aside from being an all-around people person, David was a devoted brother, cousin and uncle. David was all about family. He always made himself available to help any family member in need. Especially when it came down to his nieces and nephews who all called him " Uncle David" with the upmost respect. They were his world. He loved to show his nieces and nephews how much they meant to him.
David was a self-proclaimed "ladies man." But, he was the only one who knew it. He was funny and the life of every family gathering with tales of how all the woman loved him! Yes, David was a bragger. He mostly loved to brag about his family – especially his sisters. David was a very protective brother and would tell you " I'll hurt someone over one of my sisters!"
He loved everyone and everyone loved him.
David is predeceased by: his mother, Anna Ruth Whitlock; father, Allen Whitlock Sr.; wife, Alzeda O'Neil Whilcock; step-daughter, Turia McNeil; sister, Jannett Whitlock, Mary Taylor; brothers, Michael Whitlock, Allen Whitlock, Jr. and Henry Carver Lanier.
David is survived by: brothers, Milton, William (Rita)and Edward Whitlock (Tameica); sisters, Patricia Stevens, Sandra Whitlock Freeman (Rufus), Kathy Whitlock Keyes (Tyrone), Norma Williams, Ruth Mullen; a host of nieces and nephews; and many other family and friends. David will be missed tremendously. May his soul forever rest in peace.
