Ronald Sansone, Sr.
Ronald P. Sansone Sr., 86, a longtime resident of Weston, CT, peacefully passed away on December 16, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Ronald was born in the Bronx on June 19, 1936, to loving parents Dolly and Joseph Sansone. He graduated from Stuyvesant High School and continued his education, studying physics at Queens College.
Ronald had an extensive career creating cutting-edge technology, including experimental aerial camera systems used on early space programs and satellites. He was a Fellow and Vice President at Pitney Bowes (1973-2004) in Stamford, CT, where he headed the Research and Design Department for many years. While at Pitney Bowes, he was recognized as a prolific inventor, named on more than 160 international patents, including technologies used for laser printer resolution, bar code readers, QR codes, mail systems, and email systems. Many of his patented designs are on permanent exhibit at three different Smithsonian museums in Washington D.C.
Ronald loved to travel with his family and spend time with his grandchildren. He had a lifetime interest in photography, travel, and genealogy. Ronald is survived by his beloved wife Claire of 60 years, his daughter Janine Levine and her husband Stuart of White Plains, NY, his son Ronald Sansone Jr. and his wife Kim of Middletown, CT, his son Robert Sansone and his wife Kristina of Fiskeville, RI, his three loving grandchildren, Isabelle, Sophia, and Enzo, his sister Joanna Aruta and her husband Dennis.
His life will be celebrated in private. Interment will be held at Willowbrook Cemetery, 395 Main Street, Westport at the convenience of the family.
