Melrose Harris

Melrose "Marrow" Harris 77, of Vineland, New Jersey, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 8, 2021. Born in Pahokee, Florida, she attended Benjamin Banneker Elementary School and the William C. Jason High School in Georgetown, Delaware. In 1970, she moved from Delaware to New Jersey, along with her husband Rudolph Harris. Melrose worked as a Cottage Training Technician for the Vineland Developmental Center, East Campus in Vineland, New Jersey and was a member of the AFSCME Local # 2215. Melrose was a faithful and dedicated member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Egg Harbor City, New Jersey, where she served as Pastor's Aide and the Nurse's Unit. She also was a member of Agape and the Flower Club at Shiloh. Melrose loved her Pastor and church and would do anything she could to help. She was God fearing and loved to read her bible. Melrose loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren who meant the world to her. She enjoyed shopping, fishing and traveling. Melrose and her family would often go night fishing and charter fishing. She also enjoyed and looked forward to their family vacation to Florida every year. She was preceded in death by: her husband of 55 years, Rudolph "Rudy" Harris; mother, Annie Mae Brown; siblings, Willie Lee Bell, Blanche Thelma Green, Ruth Helen Street, Blossie Green and Ginnie Mae Williams. Melrose leaves to cherish her memories: her children, William Hinton, Darryl Blackwell, Ina Harris, Mia Harris (Fred) and Tia Alexander (Sean); brother in-law, William Kittrell; sister in-law, Alfreda Kittrell; nephew, James Green (Patricia); nieces, Diane Bussey (Wilber), Judy Holley and Linda Collins; seventeen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; other family members and friends. Funeral services will be 11AM Saturday, February 20, 2021, at Shiloh Baptist Church, 1837 North East Boulevard, Vineland, New Jersey, where friends may call from 9AM to 10:30AM. Interment will be in the Cumberland County Veteran's Cemetery, Hopewell Township, New Jersey.
