We are so sorry about the passing of Roger. Roger was an inspiration to me and was so helpful whenever I needed some good solid advice. I always enjoyed visiting about farming with him.

Roger Adolph Heller, age 89, of Olivia, MN went home to Jesus surrounded by loved ones on April 1, 2021 after having been diagnosed with a rare blood disorder (amyloidosis) in September, 2020. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Olivia with Pastor Isaiah Horn officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. A time of fellowship will follow the service at 12 noon at Max’s Grill in Olivia. Arrangements are with Dirks-Blem Funeral Service of Olivia. The family requests memorial gifts be directed to a charity dear to Roger’s heart; These include: Renville County Hospice, Olivia Lions and Jesus Cares Ministries. Jesus Cares Ministries helps churches develop an outreach program to those with special needs. Roger took over the running of his family’s farm when he was 13 years old and his father fell ill, and continued to be involved in agriculture to the end of his life. Roger graduated from Revillo High School in 1949 and went on to receive a Master’s in Agricultural Science from South Dakota State University in 1954. He married Virchella Thorkelson the same year. He took a position as a Vo-Ag instructor in New Effington, SD and a year later they moved to Danube, MN where Roger taught Vo-Ag until 1962. Roger went on to work at Trojan Seed Company as an Agronomist, and in 1963 Roger and Virch moved to Olivia where they started their farm management company, North Central Ag Services which Roger ran until 2006. Not content to retire in his 70s, Roger continued to manage farms and sell real estate for 15 more years. Roger married Arlene Weis in 2006 and they bought a winter home in Arizona where they enjoyed spending time and discovered country dancing. Roger loved spending time with family whether in Olivia, Arizona, the family cabin on Big Stone Lake, SD, or traveling internationally. Over the years he loved to golf, hunt, play cards and study history. Roger contributed to his community for years. He was involved in bringing Lakeland Bean Company (now ADM) to Olivia and was one of the founders of the American State Bank of Olivia (now F & M Bank). He served on many boards, including the American State Bank of Olivia, Greater Olivia Chamber of Commerce, and the Olivia Hospital Foundation Board. Roger was a lifelong and very active member of the Olivia Lion’s Club. Roger was a devout Christian and was very active at Zion Lutheran Church in Olivia, teaching Sunday School and serving on many church boards and committees. Roger loved “dirt” whether it was farming, selling and auctioning farms, managing or appraising farms. He was President of the Minnesota and American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers, of which he had been a member since 1963. Roger was an accredited Farm Manager and Land Broker. He served on many committees and was a President of the Minnesota and National Association of REALTORS® and President of the Minnesota and National REALTOR® Land Institute. He had the honor of serving as Minnesota REALTOR(s) Land President in 1984-85 and National REALTOR(s) Land President in 1998. Roger was named Land Broker of American in 2001. In addition to managing and marketing farms, Roger loved farming itself. He bought his first piece of farmland north of Danube in 1963 and started his own farming operation. Roger was an early investor in the Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Cooperative, and in 1977 he partnered with the Blake Schroeder family who ran the expanding farm operation and they farmed together for over 40 years. Well into his 80’s Roger was out on the tractor, taking the night shift and driving his family crazy with worry. Roger loved being a grandfather and found enormous joy spending time with his granddaughter, Chloe, whom he had the honor to baptize into the Christian faith shortly after her birth. Roger was delighted to have 2 step-children and five step-grandchildren all living nearby in Minnesota. Roger is survived by his wife, Arlene, two daughters Naomi (Robert) Endter of Greenville, WI and Ruth Heller (Christopher Brooks) of Thames Ditton, England, two step-children Rhonda (Steve) Suchy of Blaine, MN and, Bradley Weis of Rochester MN, granddaughter Chloe, step grandchildren McKenzie and Matthew Suchy, and Mitchell, Madeline and Marshall Weis. Roger is further survived by one sister, Marilynn Baillie, of Belmont, CA. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virch, their son David, infant children Nancy and John, his parents, Adolph and Esther Heller, and parents-in-law Glenn and Vlasta Thorkelson. Your donation will be processed through My Tribute Gift Foundation for distribution to your selected charity. Your credit card transaction record will appear as My Tribute Gift Foundation. An official tax receipt for your donation will be issued by My Tribute Gift Foundation. Donations are sent out to charities at the end of each month for all donations received in that previous month. So a donation made on the first day of the month would be sent at the same time as one made on last day. Payments would be sent either by paper check or direct deposit. Please note that the there is 3% + 35¢/transaction fee for credit card processing, My Tribute Gift Foundation collects a 5% administrative fee. These fees help fund the cost of processing all donations, issuing tax receipts, and sending all appropriate information to the selected charity. These fees are assumed by your selected charity, but you will receive a receipt for the full amount of your donation. There are NO additional costs the charity has to endure to participate and accept donations through MyTributeGift.org. According to the American Institute for Philanthropy (charitywatch.org) a charitable organization is considered “Good” if they are spending less than 30% on administration and fundraising costs. My Tribute Gift Foundation helps reduce those administrative costs for charities and allows donors to contribute to lasting memorials for their loved ones.
When donating online, if the donation form has an option to add a tip, there is no convenience fee. The tip is optional and can be adjusted before you submit your donation. The amount of the tip will be displayed to you before you confirm the charge to your payment card. Tips are in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount that goes to the charitable organization. Under IRS and CRA rules, tips are not tax deductible to the donor.

TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL MY TRIBUTE GIFT FOUNDATION OR ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, SERVICE PROVIDERS, AND AGENTS (THE "FOUNDATION PARTIES") BE LIABLE FOR ANY: (i) INDIRECT, CONSEQUENTIAL, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, COMPENSATORY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES; (ii) DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF INCOME, LOSS OF PROFITS, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, LOSS OF DATA OR DAMAGE TO PROPERTY; (iii) CLAIMS OF THIRD PARTIES; OR (iv) OTHER PECUNIARY LOSS, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OF USE, THE WEBSITE OR ANY LINKED SITE. Indemnity. YOU AGREE TO INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS THE FOUNDATION PARTIES FROM AND AGAINST ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, DEMANDS, ACTIONS, SUITS AND PROCEEDINGS BROUGHT BY YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY (COLLECTIVELY "CLAIMS") ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THIS SITE IN BREACH OF THESE TERMS OF USE OR THE INFRINGEMENT BY YOU OF ANY INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS OF ANY PERSON OR ENTITY, INCLUDING ALL LOSSES, LIABILITIES, DAMAGES, COSTS AND EXPENSES (INCLUDING ALL LEGAL FEES) ARISING FROM SUCH CLAIMS.

As a donor, you are responsible for researching the charity, understanding how your money will be used, and understanding the tax implications of your donation. We will email you a receipt, but the deductibility of your donation depends on your individual tax situation. We are not financial, tax, or legal experts. Please do not rely on our information to make decisions about your finances, taxes or legal matters. Consult a qualified professional in your jurisdiction.
Participating organizations have chosen to actively participate in the “Sponsor Program” to be represented in the Sponsor Charity array in an effort to increase their exposure and the opportunity for more memorial donations to be made to their organization. A rate structure is agreed upon and assessed on each donation processed through that program according to each organization’s individual agreement. Giving through that program has helped many organizations realize a drastic and significant increase in net donations.
If a donation form has a line item of Convenience Fee. The Convenience fee is displayed to you prior to approving the charge to your payment card. The convenience fee is in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount reaching the charitable organization. For example, a $100 donation becomes a $101.50 transaction. The convenience fee is directed immediately to a for-profit service provider. According to IRS and CRA rules the tax deductible receipt will therefore only be issued for the subtotal amount.
My Tribute Gift Foundation seeks to distribute all funds to organizations provided they have maintained active 501c3 certification in the United States or registered charity status in Canada. MTG relies on the beneficiary organizations to maintain and keep up to date contact information on file with the IRS or CRA respectively. This must be done in order for My Tribute Gift Foundation to exercise care and reasonable efforts to distribute payment promptly, without undue cost and burden to the foundation. In the event that a payment has not been deposited 12 months from issuance, the foundation reserves the right to utilize those funds in its mission to the foundation.
My Tribute Gift Foundation reserves the right to modify, change, discontinue and suspend these Terms of Use, the Website, and/or any services offered through the Website, in whole or in part, at any time, without prior notice to you. Your continued access or use of the Website after modifications to these Terms of Use have been posted on the Website shall indicate your acceptance of and agreement to be bound by these Terms of Use as modified.
