Sandra Jean “Sandy” Bucaro, 76, of Pompton Plains, NJ, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 1, 2021, after a sudden, brief illness. Born in Passaic to Julia and Adam Sitarz, Sandy was a devoted wife of 57 years to Ben Bucaro, her high school sweetheart, beloved mother of Laura (and her husband Neil Scanlon), Steven, and Kristen (and her husband Scott Coppola) and fun-loving grandmother to Nicole, Jessica, Lauren, Justin, Michael, Taylor, and Joshua.
Sandy was a graduate of Passaic High School and Wilfred Beauty Academy and enjoyed working as a hairstylist most of her life in salons in Pompton Plains. Sandy was known for her zest for life, her infectious smile, her love of her family and many friends, her Italian cooking and the spreads of food she laid out for every holiday. Sandy loved to travel, but spent many vacations with her family in Wildwood Crest NJ enjoying Curley’s Fries on the boardwalk and waving to her grandkids on the rides. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Adam, and survived by her sisters Jean (Gorab), Judy (Pokrywa) and many nieces and nephews. Sandy was one in a million and made everyone feel like they were the most special person in the world. She will be greatly missed.
