Robert Fousse

FOUSSE, Robert Achille, 90, of North Haledon, NJ, went home to our Lord on March 23, 2020. Born on June 1, 1929, in Waldwisse, France, Robert moved to the United States at the age of 19 and settled in North Haledon 57 years ago. He served honorably in the US Army during the Korean War as a Linguistics Translator. He was a tool and die maker for Lorraine Tool and Die of North Haledon and retired in 2008. Robert was a parishioner of St. Paul’s R.C. Church of Prospect Park, NJ Over the years Robert was very active in the North Haledon community. He volunteered with the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and the Girl Scouts of Passaic County as a troop leader and was a BSA Silver Beaver Recipient. He was the former president and chief of the Haledon Ambulance Corps and a Volunteer EMT from 2001 – 2013. Robert was recognized as the oldest person to become an EMT in New Jersey at the age of 71. In November 2014 he received the Valor Award from St. Joseph’s Hospital for saving a life. Robert also served as a volunteer fireman for Company 1 in Haledon, NJ in the early 1950’s. Robert also served his community by being on the North Haledon Borough Council, North Haledon Board of Education, North Haledon Republican Club, President of the North Jersey Football Association, Advisory Council at Wayne General Hospital, and the local Lions Club. Robert was predeceased by his parents, Francois and Marie Fousse. He met his beloved wife, Noel Fern (nee Kupfrian) in 1949, and was married in July, 1952. Devoted father of Michael F. Fousse of Lebanon, TN., Timothy D. Fousse and his wife Maria of Cibolo, TX., Lauren C. Brobeck and her partner Raymond Taylor of Hawthorne, NJ., Elizabeth L. Conklin of Somerset, NJ., and Patrick R. Fousse and his wife Pamela (PJ) of Beaufort, SC. He was a loving grandfather to 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Brother of Germaine Puglisi of New Jersey. Robert was also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Marie and a grandson, Justin. Due to the Corona Virus, a memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate the life of Robert A.
