Jennings Howard Kerns, 96, of Fairmont, passed away on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at the Guardian Heathcare, Fairmont Health and Rehabilitation Facility. He was born June 18, 1925 in Cairo, WV, a son of the late Howard P. and Gladys Fay Satterfield Kerns.
Jennings was a retired railroad employee and had previously worked as a coal miner with the Monongah mines. He enjoyed spending his time at his home where he farmed his property and loved watching his westerns on TV.
Jennings is survived by his brother, James “Jim” E. Kerns of Fairmont, his nieces and nephews, Donna and her husband Dusty Fetty of Scottsdale, AZ, Terry and his wife Kathy Kerns and family of Hillsborough, N.C., Sharlene and her husband Gary Osburn of Fairmont, Brenda and her husband Randy Vandegrift of Fairmont, and J. J. Smock of Fairmont, as well as several nieces and nephews, including, Nina and her husband Scott Cowger and family of Fairmont, and Kamy Smock of Fairmont.
Jennings was preceded in death by his siblings, Clifford Kerns, Steen Kerns, and Shirley and her husband James Smock, his nephew, Eugene Kerns, and his niece, Gaynel Kerns-Kessler.
