SCOTT, Edward Alfred (Al) Unexpectedly, Al Scott of Stevensville passed away November 27th, 2022 due to complications following surgery at the Welland Hospital. He is sadly missed by his great love and partner of 45 years, Lorrie, by his son Kevin, daughter Kelly Parlatore, son-in-law Phil Parlatore, grandchildren Victoria, Dominic, and Philip, and his dog Maddie, and cat Malachy. Al was born in Niagara Falls on September 29th, 1942, and predeceased by his parents Jack and Lucy Scott. He was also predeceased by his brother Wally. If wealth is measured by the number of one’s friends, Al died away a very wealthy man. He forged many friendships through out his work and play (particularly ice hockey).Thank you especially to friends Bernie, Bert, John, Joy, Peter, Scott and Trevor who provided so much support in the past few years. Al loved his 32 year career as a teacher and principal for the Niagara South Board of Education. After he retired he gained fame as “the best Santa Claus” performing in several advertisements, many Christmas party venues and home visits, and the St. Catharines Santa Claus Parade. He was particularly fond of visiting seniors’ residences where he could see the delight in their eyes at having a visit from the “jolly old elf”. His agent Warren Beatty went above the call of duty every step of the way. Sadly, Al hung up the sleigh bells after twenty years due to failing health. Al loved his motorcycles and took great pleasure in riding across America and Canada several times. It seems that the tires were constantly wearing out because of all the miles he rode. Al was a passionate and skilled golfer, living and breathing the game . Ever the teacher, he generously shared his knowledge and tips for improvement to anyone who wanted it. He was so delighted to pass on his clubs to our grandson Philip and coach him into a beautiful drive. It was rare to find Al without a book in his hands enjoying the escape of a well- written novel. His family wishes to express gratitude to the nurses and doctors who were with him at the end. Their kindness and compassion will never be forgotten. Lorrie extends thanks to the nurses and doctors at Niagara Falls General Hospital for the emergency care Al received twice since May of this year. Finally thank you to Drs. Mary Salib, Peter Shoebridge, Terry Chan and Kim Scher, and nurses at Walker Cancer Centre. Per his wishes Al has been cremated, there will be no service , but a gathering of remembrance will be held at later date. Arrangements entrusted to Considerate Cremation & Burial Services, 26 Nihan Drive, St. Catharines (between Lake Street & Scott Street), 289-362-1144. Online condolences may be made at CCBSCares.ca

My Tribute Gift Foundation makes this online charitable giving portal web page MyTributeGift.org (the “Website”) available to you subject to your acceptance of and compliance with these terms of use (the “Terms of Use”). So a donation made on the first day of the month would be sent at the same time as one made on last day. Payments would be sent either by paper check or direct deposit. Please note that the there is 3% + 35¢/transaction fee for credit card processing, My Tribute Gift Foundation collects a 5% administrative fee. These fees help fund the cost of processing all donations, issuing tax receipts, and sending all appropriate information to the selected charity. These fees are assumed by your selected charity, but you will receive a receipt for the full amount of your donation. There are NO additional costs the charity has to endure to participate and accept donations through MyTributeGift.org. According to the American Institute for Philanthropy (charitywatch.org) a charitable organization is considered “Good” if they are spending less than 30% on administration and fundraising costs. My Tribute Gift Foundation helps reduce those administrative costs for charities and allows donors to contribute to lasting memorials for their loved ones.
When donating online, if the donation form has an option to add a tip, there is no convenience fee. The tip is optional and can be adjusted before you submit your donation. The amount of the tip will be displayed to you before you confirm the charge to your payment card. Tips are in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount that goes to the charitable organization. Under IRS and CRA rules, tips are not tax deductible to the donor.

Indemnity. YOU AGREE TO INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS THE FOUNDATION PARTIES FROM AND AGAINST ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, DEMANDS, ACTIONS, SUITS AND PROCEEDINGS BROUGHT BY YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY (COLLECTIVELY "CLAIMS") ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THIS SITE IN BREACH OF THESE TERMS OF USE OR THE INFRINGEMENT BY YOU OF ANY INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS OF ANY PERSON OR ENTITY, INCLUDING ALL LOSSES, LIABILITIES, DAMAGES, COSTS AND EXPENSES (INCLUDING ALL LEGAL FEES) ARISING FROM SUCH CLAIMS.

As a donor, you are responsible for researching the charity, understanding how your money will be used, and understanding the tax implications of your donation. We will email you a receipt, but the deductibility of your donation depends on your individual tax situation. We are not financial, tax, or legal experts. Please do not rely on our information to make decisions about your finances, taxes or legal matters. Consult a qualified professional in your jurisdiction.
Participating organizations have chosen to actively participate in the “Sponsor Program” to be represented in the Sponsor Charity array in an effort to increase their exposure and the opportunity for more memorial donations to be made to their organization. A rate structure is agreed upon and assessed on each donation processed through that program according to each organization’s individual agreement. Giving through that program has helped many organizations realize a drastic and significant increase in net donations.
If a donation form has a line item of Convenience Fee. The Convenience fee is displayed to you prior to approving the charge to your payment card. The convenience fee is in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount reaching the charitable organization. For example, a $100 donation becomes a $101.50 transaction. The convenience fee is directed immediately to a for-profit service provider. According to IRS and CRA rules the tax deductible receipt will therefore only be issued for the subtotal amount.
My Tribute Gift Foundation seeks to distribute all funds to organizations provided they have maintained active 501c3 certification in the United States or registered charity status in Canada. MTG relies on the beneficiary organizations to maintain and keep up to date contact information on file with the IRS or CRA respectively. This must be done in order for My Tribute Gift Foundation to exercise care and reasonable efforts to distribute payment promptly, without undue cost and burden to the foundation. In the event that a payment has not been deposited 12 months from issuance, the foundation reserves the right to utilize those funds in its mission to the foundation.
My Tribute Gift Foundation reserves the right to modify, change, discontinue and suspend these Terms of Use, the Website, and/or any services offered through the Website, in whole or in part, at any time, without prior notice to you. Your continued access or use of the Website after modifications to these Terms of Use have been posted on the Website shall indicate your acceptance of and agreement to be bound by these Terms of Use as modified.
