It is with heartfelt sadness to announce the loss of David (Dave) Lowe, 75, of Antigonish, NS. He passed away peacefully with his wife and children by his side on October 29th after a valiant battle with lung disease. Dave was born in Toronto, Ontario to Roy Lowe and Verna (Moore) Lowe of Scarborough Ontario. Dave was an all-around natural athlete. He grew up playing golf from the age of seven with his father Roy and had a zero handicap at the height of his recreational golf career. He was an excellent swimmer, diver and football player. He followed in his father’s footsteps and did a Hitch in the Royal Canadian Navy as a traffic controller on the aircraft carrier Bonaventure. Dave had many stories of his adventures around the globe. Following the navy, Dave moved to Antigonish to raise his daughters. He worked at St.F.X.U. in Data Technology for the Registrar’s Office. Dave was well liked by his colleagues at the University and you could often find him solving problems with the computer technology. Way back when, the computer filled an entire room at Nicholson Hall. His daughters loved visiting their Dad at work. After more than 25 years of dedicated service to St.F. X., Dave was forced to take an early retirement due to a chronic/severe eye condition. Dave was well liked by everyone that knew him. He would agree that his biggest accomplishments were being a good person, good husband and father. He would help anyone that needed it. He loved being outdoors. He could often be found at the beach, in the woods or at “the dam” with his daughters and the family dog. Dave loved animals and they were drawn to him. He was a ‘no bones’ kind of guy with a sense of humour where he liked to express an uncomfortable truth in a clever and non malicious way, often with a degree of skepticism. People would say, “That’s Dave”. Dave’s legacy was to make sure that we all enjoy every moment life has to offer. He lived in the present. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Magdalen (Mags MacEachern) Lowe. Daughters Janice Lowe (Kevin White), Lower Sackville, Leanne Lowe, Westville and Nancy Lowe (Luc Robichaud), Springhill; grandchildren Nikita & Max Lowe-Perry, Raymond Lowe-Chisholm, Gina & Josie Ingram and Cassie Lowe-Hunter; siblings Wendy (Stephan) Schuster and Ron (Cheryl) Lowe and Ron’s Lowe children (Vicki, Karen, Meredith, Adam). As per Dave's wishes cremation has taken place. Funeral mass will be held in St. Columba Church, Lakevale, at 10 am on Friday, November 5, 2021, Rev. Andrew Boyd presiding. Burial in the Parish cemetery. Proof of dual COVID-19 vaccination and a valid picture ID are required to attend. Masks are mandatory. His daughters will plant a tree in his honour and celebrate with a sky lantern at their summer property. In lieu of Flowers, Dave would have appreciated donations to go to the Palliative Care Unit at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital and/or the local animal shelter. Online condolences www.macisaacs.ca

My Tribute Gift Foundation makes this online charitable giving portal web page MyTributeGift.org (the “Website”) available to you subject to your acceptance of and compliance with these terms of use (the “Terms of Use”). An official tax receipt for your donation will be issued by My Tribute Gift Foundation. Donations are sent out to charities at the end of each month for all donations received in that previous month. So a donation made on the first day of the month would be sent at the same time as one made on last day. Payments would be sent either by paper check or direct deposit. Please note that the there is 3% + 35¢/transaction fee for credit card processing, My Tribute Gift Foundation collects a 5% administrative fee. These fees help fund the cost of processing all donations, issuing tax receipts, and sending all appropriate information to the selected charity. These fees are assumed by your selected charity, but you will receive a receipt for the full amount of your donation. There are NO additional costs the charity has to endure to participate and accept donations through MyTributeGift.org. According to the American Institute for Philanthropy (charitywatch.org) a charitable organization is considered “Good” if they are spending less than 30% on administration and fundraising costs. My Tribute Gift Foundation helps reduce those administrative costs for charities and allows donors to contribute to lasting memorials for their loved ones.
When donating online, if the donation form has an option to add a tip, there is no convenience fee. The tip is optional and can be adjusted before you submit your donation. The amount of the tip will be displayed to you before you confirm the charge to your payment card. Tips are in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount that goes to the charitable organization. Under IRS and CRA rules, tips are not tax deductible to the donor.
You warrant and represent that all information and materials you provide to My Tribute Gift Foundation, through the Website or otherwise, are accurate and truthful and do not violate third party rights. Indemnity. YOU AGREE TO INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS THE FOUNDATION PARTIES FROM AND AGAINST ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, DEMANDS, ACTIONS, SUITS AND PROCEEDINGS BROUGHT BY YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY (COLLECTIVELY "CLAIMS") ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THIS SITE IN BREACH OF THESE TERMS OF USE OR THE INFRINGEMENT BY YOU OF ANY INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS OF ANY PERSON OR ENTITY, INCLUDING ALL LOSSES, LIABILITIES, DAMAGES, COSTS AND EXPENSES (INCLUDING ALL LEGAL FEES) ARISING FROM SUCH CLAIMS.
If in any part of these Terms of Use is held, by a court of competent jurisdiction, to be invalid or unenforceable, such part of these Terms of Use shall be eliminated to the extent permitted in that jurisdiction, for purposes of that jurisdiction, and the remaining Terms of Use shall otherwise remain in full force and effect.
These Terms of Use and your use of the Website are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and all federal laws of Canada applicable therein. The courts of the Province of Ontario shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of these Terms of Use or your use of the Website.
These Terms of Use constitute the entire agreement between you and My Tribute Gift Foundation with respect to the Website, except as we may explicitly agree otherwise in writing.. No delay or failure to exercise any right with respect to these Terms of Use shall be construed as a waiver by My Tribute Gift Foundation.
As a donor, you are responsible for researching the charity, understanding how your money will be used, and understanding the tax implications of your donation. We will email you a receipt, but the deductibility of your donation depends on your individual tax situation. We are not financial, tax, or legal experts. Please do not rely on our information to make decisions about your finances, taxes or legal matters. Consult a qualified professional in your jurisdiction.
Participating organizations have chosen to actively participate in the “Sponsor Program” to be represented in the Sponsor Charity array in an effort to increase their exposure and the opportunity for more memorial donations to be made to their organization. A rate structure is agreed upon and assessed on each donation processed through that program according to each organization’s individual agreement. Giving through that program has helped many organizations realize a drastic and significant increase in net donations.
If a donation form has a line item of Convenience Fee. The Convenience fee is displayed to you prior to approving the charge to your payment card. The convenience fee is in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount reaching the charitable organization. For example, a $100 donation becomes a $101.50 transaction. The convenience fee is directed immediately to a for-profit service provider. According to IRS and CRA rules the tax deductible receipt will therefore only be issued for the subtotal amount.
My Tribute Gift Foundation seeks to distribute all funds to organizations provided they have maintained active 501c3 certification in the United States or registered charity status in Canada. MTG relies on the beneficiary organizations to maintain and keep up to date contact information on file with the IRS or CRA respectively. This must be done in order for My Tribute Gift Foundation to exercise care and reasonable efforts to distribute payment promptly, without undue cost and burden to the foundation. In the event that a payment has not been deposited 12 months from issuance, the foundation reserves the right to utilize those funds in its mission to the foundation.
My Tribute Gift Foundation reserves the right to modify, change, discontinue and suspend these Terms of Use, the Website, and/or any services offered through the Website, in whole or in part, at any time, without prior notice to you. Your continued access or use of the Website after modifications to these Terms of Use have been posted on the Website shall indicate your acceptance of and agreement to be bound by these Terms of Use as modified. It is your responsibility to review these Terms of Use regularly.
