Otto E. Carter 68, of Atlantic City, New Jersey, passed away at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Mainland Campus, Galloway, New Jersey.
Born April 18, 1953, in Winston Salem, North Carolina, to Cherry Lee Carter, he moved to Atlantic City, New Jersey, in 1956, joining his mother and stepfather, James Lockhart, Sr. Otto attended the Atlantic City Public Schools and was a very skilled karate enthusiast. He worked in the Atlantic City casino industry for many years before becoming a self-employed handy man, lastly working at Bright's Villa for many years. Otto enjoyed fishing and listening to music. He was known to be seen dancing at parties. Otto had a great love for his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his mother, Cherry Lee Hawkins; step-father, James Lockhart, Sr.; and younger brother, Jerry Lockhart "Abdus Salaam Abdullah".
Otto leaves to cherish his memories: his son, Quintin Carter; three brothers, Andrew Steven Lockhart (Pat) of Hampton, Virginia, Barry Lockhart of Atlantic City, New Jersey and James Lockhart, Jr. (Judith) of Pleasantville, New Jersey; one sister, Cherry Sample (Kenny) of Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey; one granddaughter; and a host of nieces, nephews, many close cousins, other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Funeral Services to Celebrate his life will be Noon, Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at Second Baptist Church, 110 Rev. Dr. I.S. Cole Plaza, Atlantic City, New Jersey, where friends will be received from 11AM till Noon. Interment to follow in Atlantic City Cemetery, Pleasantville, New Jersey. A repast will be at the Soldiers Home, 1510 Adriatic Avenue, Atlantic City, New Jersey from 2PM to 4PM
