Clara Simon

Clara N. Simon, 83, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2020, at home surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Hunlock Creek on March 29,1937, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Carrie Mae Wright Booth. She was previously employed by Boscov's for the last 26 years until March 2020. Most of all she was a loving, kind, strong, and truly beautiful person. Everyone who knew her was touched in some way by her loving kindness. She passed on these gifts which will forever live on in the lives of her children. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of her life. They gave her a reason to fight so hard each day. Her passing is an enormous loss and her memory will be cherished forever. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Simon; brothers, Paul, Dave, Kenneth, Robert, Joseph, Thomas, Harold, Walter, and Peter Booth; and sisters, Myrtle Edwards, Anna Cooper, Carrie Burke, and Helen Lewis. Surviving are her son, Hurley M. Simon Sr. and JoAnn; daughter, Clara Chaban; grandchildren, Ryan Vojtek, Heather Burke and husband, Michael, Amanda Klepacz, Destiny McGlynn and husband, Brian, Hurley Simon Jr, Corwyn and Kaylee Chaban; great grandchildren, Adyson, Makynli, and Landyn Burke; sisters, Marge Evans, Carolyn Booth, and Shirley Booth; many nieces and nephews; and friends whom loved her dearly. A special thanks to the physicians, nurses and staff of Henry Cancer Center, and Residential Hospice. The family would like to extend sincere gratitude to Dr. Hosur, Dr. Torbik and Nurse Kathy Paschke. Clara's Funeral Service will be held on Monday, September,14.2020, at 9:30 a.m from the Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc. 55 Stark Street, Plains. Interment will follow in Saint Mary's Antiochian Orthodox Cemetery, Wilkes-Barre. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral and visitation will follow CDC and state guidelines, masks are required at all service events.
