Peacefully on Friday, March 19, 2021 at Friendship Village of South Hills, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on January 9, 1931 in Mineola, New York, he was a long-time resident of Williamsville, New York before moving to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 6 years ago.
Predeceased by his parents, Cyril I. Crowther, Sr. and Olive Van Rensselaer Crowther, and sisters Olive (Richard) Baird, Joan (Rolf) Walther, Virginia (Robert) Langhans, and Florence (Emil) Tessin.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Marlea Brock Crowther, loving children, Susan (Eric) Prosser, Laura Good, and Thomas Crowther, and by 6 grandchildren, Matthew Prosser, Sarah (Kevin) Egeland, Emily Good, Sydney Good, Ian Crowther, and Eve Crowther.
Cyril attended Dartmouth College before enlisting in the U.S. Navy. He finished his studies at New York University and had a long career as the Personnel Manager for Republic Steel Corporation in Buffalo, New York.
He was a long-time member of Calvary Episcopal Church in Williamsville, New York, and an early member of the Board of Directors for Hospice Buffalo.
Cy was devoted to his family, always a gentleman, and enjoyed gardening, fishing, and golf. He shared stories of his childhood days spent at the Jersey Shore sailing and surf fishing, recalling hurricanes, and predicting the weather by looking at the sky.
Arrangements by BEINHAUERS. A memorial service will be held at Friendship Village at a later date. Interment in Williamsville Cemetery, Williamsville, New York. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice Buffalo, NY, or to the Team Member Appreciation Fund of Friendship Village of South Hills Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
