Raymond Battle, 76 of Atlantic City, New Jersey quietly passed away on Friday, May 7, 2021, with his family at his side. He was born on July 28, 1944, to Margaret and Francis Battle in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. He attended school there until he relocated to Atlantic City at the age of 14. He graduated from Atlantic City High School in 1963.
Raymond enlisted in the United States Army, and served during in the Vietnam War. While in service, he met and married Joyce Miles, his wife of 52 years.
Raymond was employed forty years at The Press of Atlantic City. He retired from The Press in 2007.
Raymond was faithful as one of Jehovah's Witnesses.
He enjoyed having a good time. His family was very dear to him. He loved music, laughter, friends and a good movie.
Raymond was predeceased by: his mother and father, Margaret and Francis Battle; and brother, Maurice Battle.
He leaves to cherish his memory; his wife Joyce (nee' Miles) Battle; daughters, Dana Lathan of Atlantic City, Reyna (Damon) Mitchell of Egg Harbor City; son, Raymond Ryan Battle of Atlantic City; grandchildren, Britney, Jeffrey, Josef, (Khary), Sydney, Janai Gibbs, Aliyah Brown, and Hayila Mitchell; ten great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The Family would like to extend thanks to all for the expressions of sympathy, love, prayers and kindness provided at this time of sorrow.
Graveside services with Military Honors will be 12:30PM, Saturday, May 15, 2021, Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery, Estell Manor, New Jersey.
