Helen (Marion) Essigmann, 98, a lifelong resident of Woburn, passed away after a short illness on Saturday, December 25. She was the wife of the late John W. Essigmann.
Born on the family farm in Woburn, she was one of seven children of the late John, and the late Bertha (Dean) Marion. In her younger years, Helen worked as a nanny, later concentrating on raising her own family.
She loved playing bingo, knitting, and spending time at the family vacation home in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. Helen was devoted to her family, who meant the world to her.
Helen is survived by one son, John W. Essigmann, Jr. and his wife Kathleen of North Port, Florida; and four daughters, Sybil Wilson of Woburn, Wendy Essigmann of Woburn, Ann Essigmann of Woburn, Pamela DeSouza and her late husband Brian of Phoenix, Arizona; and she was preceded in death by one daughter, the late Judy Brown and her late husband Richard. Helen was the sister of Horace Marion of Louisville, Kentucky, Richard Marion of Corvallis, Oregon, the late Frank Marion, the late John Marion, the late Dorothy Crawford, and the late Calvin Marion. She is further survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and step-grandchildren who she adored.

Kenneth W. Nelson, of Lynn, formerly of Woburn, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 22. He was 60 years of age.
Raised in Woburn, Kenny was the son of the late Arthur, and the late Carole (Jones) Nelson. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a skilled mason and commercial paver. Kenny was an avid motorcycle enthusiast. He loved life, family, and his friends. He was a devoted father to his son Steven, who he adored and was so proud of.
Kenny is survived by one son, Steven P. Nelson and his girlfriend Nadia Pich of Lynn; and he is also survived by Steven’s mother, Diane (Paul) Nelson of Canada. Kenny also leaves his siblings, Glenn Nelson and Jackie of Woburn, David Nelson and Mary of Merrimac, Laurie (Nelson) Donovan and Kevin of Woburn, and Matthew Nelson and Ruth of Lowell. He is further survived by eight nieces and nephews, Jack & Carly Donovan of Woburn, Shane & Christine Nelson of Merrimac, and Nathan, Arthur, Ryan, and Natalie Nelson of Lowell; and he was preceded in death by one nephew, the late Eric Nelson.
A celebration of Kenny’s life will be held at the Graham Funeral Home, 3 Arlington Rd., Woburn on Sunday, January 2 at 2:00 pm.
