Pansy Partain, of Southlake, formerly of Irving, died February 2, 2022. She was born June 9, 1932, in Marysville, TX to Arlie and Rena Frances Pond. Pansy grew up in Gainesville, and the Pond family Iived one block over from the family of Dale Partain. Dale could see her house from his window. He never lost sight of her, and they married on July 31, 1954. They had 3 children and were married 63 years when he passed away in 2017.
Pansy is survived by one daughter, Cynthia Castro and husband Rudy of Irving, son Nick Partain and wife Connie of Kaufman, and son Tim Partain and wife Heather of Irving, 7 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren.
Pansy was an Assistant Vice President at Irving Bank & Trust when she retired in 1974. She next worked as a bookkeeper at R&A Supply. Then in 1990, she and Dale built and opened the New Horizons Academy in Red Oak that she continued to own.
In the last 3 years, Pansy lived at Heartis Memory Care. And though her mind became clouded, her spirit, kindness and thoughtfulness become more evident. The staff called her Sweet Pansy, and she was one of their favorite residents. She had a strong faith, joy for her family, and a grateful heart.
Pansy was a member of Plymouth Park Baptist Church in Irving where she attended with her husband and children. She had many creative talents. She was a wonderful cook, a skilled seamstress, and a talented artist. She also loved gardening. She steadily built more and more flower beds for roses and irises and anything that would bloom, preferably in a shade of pink! But her passion was caring for her family. She filled their home with joy, laughter, games, books, music, and family gatherings. But she filled their hearts with love. A wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she loved her family deeply and was deeply loved.
