SUTHERLAND, Robert Dundas "BOB" Treasured husband, father, and “papa”, Bob passed away unexpectedly on Thursday December 8th during his ongoing recovery from his recent heart surgery. Dear husband of 53 years to his loving wife Ilse. Beloved father of Morrell and Richard (Maricel) Rutherford. Proud grandfather of Cullen and Garrett McCurrach and Liam Rutherford. Predeceased by his grandson Taylor. Bob worked a number of odd jobs over his career. He started with Dominion stores in high school, and they later sent him to Cornell University on a scholarship. When he first met Ilse, he was working for Rothman’s cigarettes. Despite quitting smoking, he stayed true to his salesman roots by continuing to carry cigarettes in his shirt pocket to offer potential customers. Bob then opened his first independent business in Toronto (Kitchen World) where he lived with his family for 13 years. They moved back to London after the death of Ilse’s mother, where he undertook renovating the family home of 50 years in the historical Woodfield district. Bob had a dream to obtain a historical designation for this home and in 2007 this designation was granted by the city. From there, he continued to work independently on his next business venture (Solutions Training) which was a plumbing and electrical training program he facilitated in stores across Canada. As part of this “travelling roadshow” he and Ilse would venture across the country to attend tradeshows where he taught the hardware and department store staff to train customers on completing their own home plumbing and electrical work. He did this using his patented displays, which were a staple of this business. Bob was the governor of every street he ever lived on. He always made sure that there was a sense of community in each one of his neighborhoods. As a true patriot, he always took pride in hosting an annual Canada Day celebration where he would put on fireworks for the whole street to enjoy. He also loved individual sports, chief among which was golf and he and Ilse played regularly. Over the years, Bob also enjoyed skiing on both the mountains and lakes near his cottages in Gravenhurst, 3-Mile Lake, Wildwood, and Ellicottville. A real-life Bob the Builder, he converted his three-car garage into a workshop that he used to complete home and business-related projects, as well as his traditional wooden rocking horses that he crafted for all his friends' first children. He was currently building one to donate to a local fundraising initiative, which we hope to still have completed in his honor. Business and pleasure aside, nothing brought Bob more joy than his loving wife Ilse. They spent most of their married years traveling the world and often brought their friends, children, and grandchildren along for the ride with them. Those that knew Bob knew he had no greater passion than surprising Ilse with birthday parties. He loved doing this so much that he would often fly the entire family out to catch her on their whirlwind adventures, each time doing so with perfect execution. Many of these surprises occurred in Barbados over a 25 year period. Cremation has already taken place in honor of Bob’s wishes. A celebration of his life will follow, which will take place at the Marconi Club on March 4th, 2023, from 2-5pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bob’s memory to either the Men’s Mission or the Heart & Stroke Foundation. The family would like to thank the staff at University Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion over the course of Bob’s final days. We love you so much Papa, and we will carry you with us forever.

My Tribute Gift Foundation makes this online charitable giving portal web page MyTributeGift.org (the “Website”) available to you subject to your acceptance of and compliance with these terms of use (the “Terms of Use”). Your donation will be processed through My Tribute Gift Foundation for distribution to your selected charity. Your credit card transaction record will appear as My Tribute Gift Foundation. An official tax receipt for your donation will be issued by My Tribute Gift Foundation. Donations are sent out to charities at the end of each month for all donations received in that previous month. So a donation made on the first day of the month would be sent at the same time as one made on last day. Payments would be sent either by paper check or direct deposit. Please note that the there is 3% + 35¢/transaction fee for credit card processing, My Tribute Gift Foundation collects a 5% administrative fee. These fees help fund the cost of processing all donations, issuing tax receipts, and sending all appropriate information to the selected charity. These fees are assumed by your selected charity, but you will receive a receipt for the full amount of your donation. There are NO additional costs the charity has to endure to participate and accept donations through MyTributeGift.org. According to the American Institute for Philanthropy (charitywatch.org) a charitable organization is considered “Good” if they are spending less than 30% on administration and fundraising costs. My Tribute Gift Foundation helps reduce those administrative costs for charities and allows donors to contribute to lasting memorials for their loved ones.
When donating online, if the donation form has an option to add a tip, there is no convenience fee. The tip is optional and can be adjusted before you submit your donation. The amount of the tip will be displayed to you before you confirm the charge to your payment card. Tips are in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount that goes to the charitable organization. Under IRS and CRA rules, tips are not tax deductible to the donor.
You warrant and represent that all information and materials you provide to My Tribute Gift Foundation, through the Website or otherwise, are accurate and truthful and do not violate third party rights. Indemnity. YOU AGREE TO INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS THE FOUNDATION PARTIES FROM AND AGAINST ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, DEMANDS, ACTIONS, SUITS AND PROCEEDINGS BROUGHT BY YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY (COLLECTIVELY "CLAIMS") ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THIS SITE IN BREACH OF THESE TERMS OF USE OR THE INFRINGEMENT BY YOU OF ANY INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS OF ANY PERSON OR ENTITY, INCLUDING ALL LOSSES, LIABILITIES, DAMAGES, COSTS AND EXPENSES (INCLUDING ALL LEGAL FEES) ARISING FROM SUCH CLAIMS.
If in any part of these Terms of Use is held, by a court of competent jurisdiction, to be invalid or unenforceable, such part of these Terms of Use shall be eliminated to the extent permitted in that jurisdiction, for purposes of that jurisdiction, and the remaining Terms of Use shall otherwise remain in full force and effect.
These Terms of Use and your use of the Website are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and all federal laws of Canada applicable therein. The courts of the Province of Ontario shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of these Terms of Use or your use of the Website.
These Terms of Use constitute the entire agreement between you and My Tribute Gift Foundation with respect to the Website, except as we may explicitly agree otherwise in writing.. No delay or failure to exercise any right with respect to these Terms of Use shall be construed as a waiver by My Tribute Gift Foundation.
As a donor, you are responsible for researching the charity, understanding how your money will be used, and understanding the tax implications of your donation. We will email you a receipt, but the deductibility of your donation depends on your individual tax situation. We are not financial, tax, or legal experts. Please do not rely on our information to make decisions about your finances, taxes or legal matters. Consult a qualified professional in your jurisdiction.
Participating organizations have chosen to actively participate in the “Sponsor Program” to be represented in the Sponsor Charity array in an effort to increase their exposure and the opportunity for more memorial donations to be made to their organization. A rate structure is agreed upon and assessed on each donation processed through that program according to each organization’s individual agreement. Giving through that program has helped many organizations realize a drastic and significant increase in net donations.
If a donation form has a line item of Convenience Fee. The Convenience fee is displayed to you prior to approving the charge to your payment card. The convenience fee is in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount reaching the charitable organization. For example, a $100 donation becomes a $101.50 transaction. The convenience fee is directed immediately to a for-profit service provider. According to IRS and CRA rules the tax deductible receipt will therefore only be issued for the subtotal amount.
My Tribute Gift Foundation seeks to distribute all funds to organizations provided they have maintained active 501c3 certification in the United States or registered charity status in Canada. MTG relies on the beneficiary organizations to maintain and keep up to date contact information on file with the IRS or CRA respectively. This must be done in order for My Tribute Gift Foundation to exercise care and reasonable efforts to distribute payment promptly, without undue cost and burden to the foundation. In the event that a payment has not been deposited 12 months from issuance, the foundation reserves the right to utilize those funds in its mission to the foundation.
My Tribute Gift Foundation reserves the right to modify, change, discontinue and suspend these Terms of Use, the Website, and/or any services offered through the Website, in whole or in part, at any time, without prior notice to you. Your continued access or use of the Website after modifications to these Terms of Use have been posted on the Website shall indicate your acceptance of and agreement to be bound by these Terms of Use as modified. It is your responsibility to review these Terms of Use regularly.
