Age 82, of Falmouth, passed away on October 14, 2020, with his family by his side after a brief illness. He was born in Fredericton, New Brunswick, to the late Morris and Bridget (Turgeon) Hazlett, on September 12, 1938. He married the love of his life in the spring of 1955 and together they created a life many could only dream of. They filled their home with love and laughter, with family and with friends. They knew what was important in this life and they lived it every day. Left to carry on their legacy are his loving wife, Margaret (Price); his children, Ron (Wanda) Hazlett, Cindy (Clarence) Barker, Heather Haley (Bruce Harnish), Tami Hazlett (Paul Hare); and son-in-law, Mark Beckwith. He was so proud of his family and they meant so much to him. His grandchildren - Sherry, Teresa, Bradley, Melissa, Michelle, Tara, Jennifer, Amy, Shawn, Matthew, Lindsey and Carter - held a special place in his heart. His great-grandchildren (Tyler, Emma, Ally, Dawson, Aidan, Owen, Enya, Brayden, Cooper and George), his brother, Dave, and his dear friend, Michael MacKillop, enriched his life and he was always grateful for them. He has been received into the loving arms of his daughter, Debbie Beckwith; his son-in-law, Michael Haley; and his partner-in-crime, Kathleen MacKillop; as well as his family and friends that have gone before him. He worked as an electrician for many of his younger years, and had his own electrical company. In 1980, he and Margaret left Hantsport for New Minas and a career in real estate. He was incredibly good at working with people, and he won many awards along the way. His real estate career spanned twenty-five years and he loved every minute of it. He was a maker and his creativity and ability knew no bounds. We rock in the chairs he built, we live in the homes he helped create and we wear the jewelry he lovingly turned for us. He was at home in his workshop and took so much pride in his art. Music was in his soul and it ran through his veins. He could play anything, and was always humming a tune and doing a dance. He made space in his workshop to craft instruments - fiddles and a guitar, which he played for years. His enthusiasm for music was one of his greatest gifts and he shared that gift with so many. He had a passion for aviation and was a pilot for many years. He navigated flights up and down the Annapolis Valley, throughout Atlantic Canada, to Oshkosh and down the eastern seaboard to Florida. He built his own plane in the 1970s - a KR-1, which he named the Tammy Gwen. His love for flying spanned four decades and he was always at home in the pilot’s seat. His life touched that of so many. He may have sold you your first home, or maybe he jammed and sang songs with you. You may know him from years of living in Hantsport or New Minas or Falmouth. You may have something he crafted or maybe he took you on a sight-seeing flight over the Valley. Maybe he was a colleague or a friend. We don’t have to look far to see how his life has impacted this world, and in that he will live on forever. We know what we lost, but more importantly we know what we had. Our lives are better because he was a part of them. Eighty-two years is a long time, but doesn’t feel nearly long enough when you have to say goodbye. Instead, we will say “goodbye for now”, knowing he will be forever in our hearts and that we will all be together again. Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert Street, Windsor (902-798-8317). A graveside funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, October 24 in Maplewood Cemetery, 1186 King St., Windsor, Rev. Bill Gibson officiating. COVID-19 physical distancing guidelines must be followed. It is recommended that you wear a mask and if needed, please bring your own lawn chair and umbrella. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ron may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of NS, Park Lane Mall, Level 3, 5657 Spring Garden Rd., Box 245, Halifax, NS B3J 3R4. My Tribute Gift Foundation makes this online charitable giving portal web page MyTributeGift.org (the “Website”) available to you subject to your acceptance of and compliance with these terms of use (the “Terms of Use”). Your donation will be processed through My Tribute Gift Foundation for distribution to your selected charity. Your credit card transaction record will appear as My Tribute Gift Foundation. An official tax receipt for your donation will be issued by My Tribute Gift Foundation. Donations are sent out to charities at the end of each month for all donations received in that previous month. So a donation made on the first day of the month would be sent at the same time as one made on last day. Payments would be sent either by paper check or direct deposit. Please note that the there is 3% + 35¢/transaction fee for credit card processing, My Tribute Gift Foundation collects a 5% administrative fee. These fees help fund the cost of processing all donations, issuing tax receipts, and sending all appropriate information to the selected charity. These fees are assumed by your selected charity, but you will receive a receipt for the full amount of your donation. There are NO additional costs the charity has to endure to participate and accept donations through MyTributeGift.org. According to the American Institute for Philanthropy (charitywatch.org) a charitable organization is considered “Good” if they are spending less than 30% on administration and fundraising costs. My Tribute Gift Foundation helps reduce those administrative costs for charities and allows donors to contribute to lasting memorials for their loved ones.
When donating online, if the donation form has an option to add a tip, there is no convenience fee. The tip is optional and can be adjusted before you submit your donation. The amount of the tip will be displayed to you before you confirm the charge to your payment card. Tips are in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount that goes to the charitable organization. Under IRS and CRA rules, tips are not tax deductible to the donor.
You warrant and represent that all information and materials you provide to My Tribute Gift Foundation, through the Website or otherwise, are accurate and truthful and do not violate third party rights. Scope of Limitations and Disclaimers. Indemnity. YOU AGREE TO INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS THE FOUNDATION PARTIES FROM AND AGAINST ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, DEMANDS, ACTIONS, SUITS AND PROCEEDINGS BROUGHT BY YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY (COLLECTIVELY "CLAIMS") ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THIS SITE IN BREACH OF THESE TERMS OF USE OR THE INFRINGEMENT BY YOU OF ANY INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS OF ANY PERSON OR ENTITY, INCLUDING ALL LOSSES, LIABILITIES, DAMAGES, COSTS AND EXPENSES (INCLUDING ALL LEGAL FEES) ARISING FROM SUCH CLAIMS.
If in any part of these Terms of Use is held, by a court of competent jurisdiction, to be invalid or unenforceable, such part of these Terms of Use shall be eliminated to the extent permitted in that jurisdiction, for purposes of that jurisdiction, and the remaining Terms of Use shall otherwise remain in full force and effect.
These Terms of Use and your use of the Website are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and all federal laws of Canada applicable therein. The courts of the Province of Ontario shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of these Terms of Use or your use of the Website.
These Terms of Use constitute the entire agreement between you and My Tribute Gift Foundation with respect to the Website, except as we may explicitly agree otherwise in writing.. No delay or failure to exercise any right with respect to these Terms of Use shall be construed as a waiver by My Tribute Gift Foundation.
As a donor, you are responsible for researching the charity, understanding how your money will be used, and understanding the tax implications of your donation. We will email you a receipt, but the deductibility of your donation depends on your individual tax situation. We are not financial, tax, or legal experts. Please do not rely on our information to make decisions about your finances, taxes or legal matters. Consult a qualified professional in your jurisdiction.
Participating organizations have chosen to actively participate in the “Sponsor Program” to be represented in the Sponsor Charity array in an effort to increase their exposure and the opportunity for more memorial donations to be made to their organization. A rate structure is agreed upon and assessed on each donation processed through that program according to each organization’s individual agreement. Giving through that program has helped many organizations realize a drastic and significant increase in net donations.
If a donation form has a line item of Convenience Fee. The Convenience fee is displayed to you prior to approving the charge to your payment card. The convenience fee is in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount reaching the charitable organization. For example, a $100 donation becomes a $101.50 transaction. The convenience fee is directed immediately to a for-profit service provider. According to IRS and CRA rules the tax deductible receipt will therefore only be issued for the subtotal amount.
My Tribute Gift Foundation seeks to distribute all funds to organizations provided they have maintained active 501c3 certification in the United States or registered charity status in Canada. MTG relies on the beneficiary organizations to maintain and keep up to date contact information on file with the IRS or CRA respectively. This must be done in order for My Tribute Gift Foundation to exercise care and reasonable efforts to distribute payment promptly, without undue cost and burden to the foundation. In the event that a payment has not been deposited 12 months from issuance, the foundation reserves the right to utilize those funds in its mission to the foundation.
My Tribute Gift Foundation reserves the right to modify, change, discontinue and suspend these Terms of Use, the Website, and/or any services offered through the Website, in whole or in part, at any time, without prior notice to you. Your continued access or use of the Website after modifications to these Terms of Use have been posted on the Website shall indicate your acceptance of and agreement to be bound by these Terms of Use as modified. It is your responsibility to review these Terms of Use regularly.
