From watching and listening to the eulogies at Helen's funeral service, it was very clear how much she was loved and will be missed. Although we did not see her often, we will always remember Helen with a big grin, a twinkle in her eyes, easy laughter and a huge hug whenever we happened to meet her at Bill and Wendy's house. Her joyful, warm, happy personality appears to have been passed down to her children and grandchildren. What a wonderful legacy! Condolences to all her family, Gail and Ken Smith

With great sorrow the family of Helen Ann Reid (née Simpson) announces her passing on December 23rd, 2020. Hers was a life filled with love and laughter, generosity and joy. The facts and names listed below minimize the impact and intensity of her life. Helen loved people with a commitment and compassion that expected nothing in return. She was always surprised by the devotion and love that rightly flowed back to her. Whenever and wherever she and her husband John (predeceased) moved, Helen set about making a home and building a community around herself. No matter how big the city, Helen made it feel small town and welcoming. Countless children and their families, including many special needs children, benefited from her generous heart and unstinting commitment during her long career teaching in both public and high schools. She donated her time and creativity to many varied causes, and made every task fun. She and John believed deeply that we all shared responsibility in making a better world and did more than their share to brighten the lives of others. Left with uncountable wonderful memories are her children David (Annette) and Sandi (Morris) and her grandchildren Ashley (Ashton), Kyle, Xavier (Julie), and Alexandra (James). We look forward to telling marvelous fun-filled stories of Nana to her great grandchild Scarlett for many years to come. Helen’s final days were a blessing as she had time to revisit these stories herself with both family and friends. Reminiscing with her brother Bill (Simpson) about their early years on Ramsey Lake brought Helen such joy. It would mean a great deal to her family if you wish to share a memory of Helen that you add it to www.lougheed.org. We are missing the opportunity to share these memories first-hand but instead would like to invite you to join us at the live stream (details below). These stories begin where Helen did in Sudbury, before roaming through Hornepayne and Red Lake in the early 1960’s. From 1966 to 1977 Helen and John settled in Gore Bay, where they found friends and a lifestyle that fit them perfectly. When the Ontario Provincial Police transferred them to Brampton, they reluctantly moved on and rebuilt there, finding (or creating) a small town in the big city. Her final move came just 3 years ago when health concerns motivated a move to Meadowbrook retirement home in Lively to be closer to family. There she found (or created) a fun and busy life for herself and a whole bunch of wonderful friends. Helen’s easy smile and welcoming ways drew people to her at every stage of her life. She had a sense of fun and a lightness that made hard tasks easy and even the mundane a joy. We are diminished by her passing but blessed by the time we had with her. Funeral service will be held in the R.J. Barnard Chapel at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home (233 Larch Street, Sudbury) on Sunday, January 10th, 2021 at 2pm. Friends may gather after 12noon Sunday. Your donation will be processed through My Tribute Gift Foundation for distribution to your selected charity. Your credit card transaction record will appear as My Tribute Gift Foundation. An official tax receipt for your donation will be issued by My Tribute Gift Foundation. Donations are sent out to charities at the end of each month for all donations received in that previous month. So a donation made on the first day of the month would be sent at the same time as one made on last day. Payments would be sent either by paper check or direct deposit. Please note that the there is 3% + 35¢/transaction fee for credit card processing, My Tribute Gift Foundation collects a 5% administrative fee. These fees help fund the cost of processing all donations, issuing tax receipts, and sending all appropriate information to the selected charity. These fees are assumed by your selected charity, but you will receive a receipt for the full amount of your donation. There are NO additional costs the charity has to endure to participate and accept donations through MyTributeGift.org. According to the American Institute for Philanthropy (charitywatch.org) a charitable organization is considered “Good” if they are spending less than 30% on administration and fundraising costs. My Tribute Gift Foundation helps reduce those administrative costs for charities and allows donors to contribute to lasting memorials for their loved ones.
When donating online, if the donation form has an option to add a tip, there is no convenience fee. The tip is optional and can be adjusted before you submit your donation. The amount of the tip will be displayed to you before you confirm the charge to your payment card. Tips are in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount that goes to the charitable organization. Under IRS and CRA rules, tips are not tax deductible to the donor.
You warrant and represent that all information and materials you provide to My Tribute Gift Foundation, through the Website or otherwise, are accurate and truthful and do not violate third party rights. Indemnity. YOU AGREE TO INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS THE FOUNDATION PARTIES FROM AND AGAINST ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, DEMANDS, ACTIONS, SUITS AND PROCEEDINGS BROUGHT BY YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY (COLLECTIVELY "CLAIMS") ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THIS SITE IN BREACH OF THESE TERMS OF USE OR THE INFRINGEMENT BY YOU OF ANY INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS OF ANY PERSON OR ENTITY, INCLUDING ALL LOSSES, LIABILITIES, DAMAGES, COSTS AND EXPENSES (INCLUDING ALL LEGAL FEES) ARISING FROM SUCH CLAIMS.
If in any part of these Terms of Use is held, by a court of competent jurisdiction, to be invalid or unenforceable, such part of these Terms of Use shall be eliminated to the extent permitted in that jurisdiction, for purposes of that jurisdiction, and the remaining Terms of Use shall otherwise remain in full force and effect.
These Terms of Use and your use of the Website are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and all federal laws of Canada applicable therein. The courts of the Province of Ontario shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of these Terms of Use or your use of the Website.
These Terms of Use constitute the entire agreement between you and My Tribute Gift Foundation with respect to the Website, except as we may explicitly agree otherwise in writing.. No delay or failure to exercise any right with respect to these Terms of Use shall be construed as a waiver by My Tribute Gift Foundation.
As a donor, you are responsible for researching the charity, understanding how your money will be used, and understanding the tax implications of your donation. We will email you a receipt, but the deductibility of your donation depends on your individual tax situation. We are not financial, tax, or legal experts. Please do not rely on our information to make decisions about your finances, taxes or legal matters. Consult a qualified professional in your jurisdiction.
Participating organizations have chosen to actively participate in the “Sponsor Program” to be represented in the Sponsor Charity array in an effort to increase their exposure and the opportunity for more memorial donations to be made to their organization. A rate structure is agreed upon and assessed on each donation processed through that program according to each organization’s individual agreement. Giving through that program has helped many organizations realize a drastic and significant increase in net donations.
If a donation form has a line item of Convenience Fee. The Convenience fee is displayed to you prior to approving the charge to your payment card. The convenience fee is in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount reaching the charitable organization. For example, a $100 donation becomes a $101.50 transaction. The convenience fee is directed immediately to a for-profit service provider. According to IRS and CRA rules the tax deductible receipt will therefore only be issued for the subtotal amount.
My Tribute Gift Foundation seeks to distribute all funds to organizations provided they have maintained active 501c3 certification in the United States or registered charity status in Canada. MTG relies on the beneficiary organizations to maintain and keep up to date contact information on file with the IRS or CRA respectively. This must be done in order for My Tribute Gift Foundation to exercise care and reasonable efforts to distribute payment promptly, without undue cost and burden to the foundation. In the event that a payment has not been deposited 12 months from issuance, the foundation reserves the right to utilize those funds in its mission to the foundation.
My Tribute Gift Foundation reserves the right to modify, change, discontinue and suspend these Terms of Use, the Website, and/or any services offered through the Website, in whole or in part, at any time, without prior notice to you. Your continued access or use of the Website after modifications to these Terms of Use have been posted on the Website shall indicate your acceptance of and agreement to be bound by these Terms of Use as modified. It is your responsibility to review these Terms of Use regularly.
