Shirley Elizabeth Grubb, of Walkerton passed away at Brucelea Haven, Walkerton on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at the age of 81. Shirley was born June 12, 1941, into a large family of which she was the 4th youngest of 12. Growing up on a farm, she learned hard work and teamwork from a young age. Her devotion to God was also stemmed at an early age …and she worked for many of her younger years as an assistant to numerous priests in the rectories of which she shared many laughs and stories that made way to undeniable friendships for life. Eventually she became a nurse’s assistant, today known as a PSW paving her way to her lifetime job of over 30 years at Brucelea Haven. Shirley did not have any children of her own, but she became mother and friend to many of her nieces and nephews …especially to Connie, Barb, Brenda and Tom. And, if she wasn’t playing a maternal role (that she didn’t even know she had) to us and others, she was playing worry wart to the rest. She always knew what was going on in each of her family members lives, as well as their childrens … and she prayed and worried for us constantly. Before she could fully retire, Shirley lost much of the sight in one eye, and had destructive glaucoma in the other. Even though this devastated her and forced her into a somewhat early retirement, it did not hold her down. She could no longer drive …but she still lived as independent as a person could possibly do under such debilitated circumstances. She loved to walk and take care of whatever business she could on her own - always looking like a million bucks and asking for help only when absolutely needed. Her genuine soul was admired by everyone that knew her well and even those who didn’t, along with her sharp sense of humour and her signature smile. Sadly, Shirley developed dementia during the last 2 years of her life …and it spiraled her quickly. When she could no longer live alone, she stepped stoned to Maple Court and less than a year later she found her final earthly home back at Brucelea. We will be forever grateful to those who assisted her everyday decline in both establishments as neither place was where she wanted to be. We as her family were very fortunate to have both places to help us help her, in her toughest times. Shirley will be missed by her siblings John (Joan) Grubb, Walter Grubb, Austin Grubb, Lucy Miller, Phyllis Niesen, Doreen "Reenie" Weber, and Francis Grubb, as well as her brother-in-law Norbert Wilhelm, and sister-in- law Leona Grubb. Especially missed by her nieces and nephews who were her genuine friends and caretakers as well as her closest lifelong friends Karen, Doreen, Sharon and Theresa. She was predeceased by her Parents Edward and Amelia Grubb, siblings Raymond, Dorothy, Geraldine, and Eddie. As well as in-laws Bob Lang, Helen Grubb, Leona Grubb, Jerome Wilhelm, Stanley Weber, Brenda Grubb, Don Niesen, Richard Miller and Anne Grubb. We will all miss her so much! Her love of a Good burger and ice cream, Coffee, clothes shopping for bargains, the shopping channel, car rides, casino stops, calling us air heads, and always sharing a laugh or a chuckle at something. And - we will never forget her favourite saying - “Life is like a box of chocolates …you just never know what you’re gonna get “ Forrest Gump Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at Cameron’s and followed by Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church, Walkerton at 11:00 a.m. Fr. Leszek Szczygiel officiating. Memorial donations to the Sacred Heart Building Fund or to Saugeen Hospice Inc. would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. My Tribute Gift Foundation makes this online charitable giving portal web page MyTributeGift.org (the “Website”) available to you subject to your acceptance of and compliance with these terms of use (the “Terms of Use”). Your donation will be processed through My Tribute Gift Foundation for distribution to your selected charity. Your credit card transaction record will appear as My Tribute Gift Foundation. An official tax receipt for your donation will be issued by My Tribute Gift Foundation. Donations are sent out to charities at the end of each month for all donations received in that previous month. So a donation made on the first day of the month would be sent at the same time as one made on last day. Payments would be sent either by paper check or direct deposit. Please note that the there is 3% + 35¢/transaction fee for credit card processing, My Tribute Gift Foundation collects a 5% administrative fee. These fees help fund the cost of processing all donations, issuing tax receipts, and sending all appropriate information to the selected charity. These fees are assumed by your selected charity, but you will receive a receipt for the full amount of your donation. There are NO additional costs the charity has to endure to participate and accept donations through MyTributeGift.org. According to the American Institute for Philanthropy (charitywatch.org) a charitable organization is considered “Good” if they are spending less than 30% on administration and fundraising costs. My Tribute Gift Foundation helps reduce those administrative costs for charities and allows donors to contribute to lasting memorials for their loved ones.
When donating online, if the donation form has an option to add a tip, there is no convenience fee. The tip is optional and can be adjusted before you submit your donation. The amount of the tip will be displayed to you before you confirm the charge to your payment card. Tips are in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount that goes to the charitable organization. Under IRS and CRA rules, tips are not tax deductible to the donor.
You warrant and represent that all information and materials you provide to My Tribute Gift Foundation, through the Website or otherwise, are accurate and truthful and do not violate third party rights. Indemnity. YOU AGREE TO INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS THE FOUNDATION PARTIES FROM AND AGAINST ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, DEMANDS, ACTIONS, SUITS AND PROCEEDINGS BROUGHT BY YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY (COLLECTIVELY "CLAIMS") ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THIS SITE IN BREACH OF THESE TERMS OF USE OR THE INFRINGEMENT BY YOU OF ANY INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS OF ANY PERSON OR ENTITY, INCLUDING ALL LOSSES, LIABILITIES, DAMAGES, COSTS AND EXPENSES (INCLUDING ALL LEGAL FEES) ARISING FROM SUCH CLAIMS.

As a donor, you are responsible for researching the charity, understanding how your money will be used, and understanding the tax implications of your donation. We will email you a receipt, but the deductibility of your donation depends on your individual tax situation. We are not financial, tax, or legal experts. Please do not rely on our information to make decisions about your finances, taxes or legal matters. Consult a qualified professional in your jurisdiction.
Participating organizations have chosen to actively participate in the “Sponsor Program” to be represented in the Sponsor Charity array in an effort to increase their exposure and the opportunity for more memorial donations to be made to their organization. A rate structure is agreed upon and assessed on each donation processed through that program according to each organization’s individual agreement. Giving through that program has helped many organizations realize a drastic and significant increase in net donations.
If a donation form has a line item of Convenience Fee. The Convenience fee is displayed to you prior to approving the charge to your payment card. The convenience fee is in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount reaching the charitable organization. For example, a $100 donation becomes a $101.50 transaction. The convenience fee is directed immediately to a for-profit service provider. According to IRS and CRA rules the tax deductible receipt will therefore only be issued for the subtotal amount.
My Tribute Gift Foundation seeks to distribute all funds to organizations provided they have maintained active 501c3 certification in the United States or registered charity status in Canada. MTG relies on the beneficiary organizations to maintain and keep up to date contact information on file with the IRS or CRA respectively. This must be done in order for My Tribute Gift Foundation to exercise care and reasonable efforts to distribute payment promptly, without undue cost and burden to the foundation. In the event that a payment has not been deposited 12 months from issuance, the foundation reserves the right to utilize those funds in its mission to the foundation.
My Tribute Gift Foundation reserves the right to modify, change, discontinue and suspend these Terms of Use, the Website, and/or any services offered through the Website, in whole or in part, at any time, without prior notice to you. Your continued access or use of the Website after modifications to these Terms of Use have been posted on the Website shall indicate your acceptance of and agreement to be bound by these Terms of Use as modified.
