Dear Jim, Ilona, Jamie, Shara and Family: I am sorry I cannot be there in person. 54 years I have known your family and remember the times in your home very fondly and all the good times I shared with Jamie especially. As a brother of 3 and father of 1, perhaps I can presume to share just a little of what you are feeling. Please accept my heartfelt condolences for Marc's passing. I remember him as a real imp with, as I said to Jamie, an immense sense of humour. I will keep my memories of him and all of you close.

Marcus Christian Black, 58, passed away on August 18, 2022 in Waterloo, Ontario after a brief illness. Marcus “Sparky” was our one-of-a-kind son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend; his passing has left a huge hole in our hearts. He leaves behind his father James, mother Ilona (Jorgensen), brother Jamie (Kimberly), sister Shara, nephew Jackson and niece Lexi. He will also be missed by his uncles Don Breault and Bruce Black; aunts Rose Jorgensen and Esther Jorgensen; cousins Carl and Curtis Jorgensen, Stephanie Grace, Shannon Groom, Rob and Jeff Jorgensen, Erin, Lisa and Paul Breault, John, Sarah, Devon, Connor, Lindsay and Stephen Black. Marcus was predeceased by his grandparents Christian & Terttu Jorgensen, James & Ruth Black and his uncles John and Carl Jorgensen, Kevin Black and his son James and Aunt Donna Breault. Marcus was born in Sudbury, Ontario on April 15, 1964. He spent summers on the beach at Lake Ramsay and at the Jorgensen family camp in French River. The family had memorable trips to the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island and Lantana Beach, Florida and also spent a lot of time in the Ottawa Valley. Marcus graduated from Sudbury Secondary School. Good friends Kenny and Michael helped him get into mischief in his teen years. In his 20s, he explored Australia with friends Paul and Garnet where he learned to surf at Bondi Beach. Marcus was a great golfer and played many rounds with Jim and Jamie at courses including French River, Idylwylde and Gore Bay where Uncle Kevin would join in and try and keep track of all the money games Jim had going. In 2001, Marcus moved to Ottawa to work for Bell Canada. He enjoyed living downtown, skating on the Rideau Canal and searching for good finds at estate and garage sales especially teak furniture pieces and rare guitars. Formula One and Grand Prix races were rarely missed and being a die-hard Boston Bruin fan all his life, Bobby (Number 4) Orr was his favorite player. Marcus passed away at exactly 04:04am with his brother by his side. Marcus was tremendously handy, building a deck, shed and tree swing at his family’s Wembley Drive home as well as installing railings for his parents. Ilona’s list of handyman items was always ticked off after Marcus’ visits home. After his chores were done, he was thrilled to grill whatever you wanted on the BBQ. Losing a brother brings tremendous sorrow. Marcus had a great bond with his sister Shara, talking about friends and life and had fun times at bars and beer fests in Sudbury and exploring Toronto. They’ve always been there for each other. Best friend to Jamie, the brothers shared a love of cars, music, golf and lotto dreams. They were alike in so many ways. Jamie will treasure the memories of many vacations to Florida with his family and just the two of them and the Porsche Road trip to Sudbury. Jamie is glad Marcus spent the last four months of his life with him and his family in Waterloo. Kim always looked forward to Marcus’ visits and his barbeque prowess where the potatoes were done to perfection. Marcus loved being an uncle. He built Jackson and Lexi the largest tree house in North America between the maple trees in the kids’ Waterloo backyard. He went on any terrifying amusement park ride they asked him to and loved golfing with them. They’ll miss Uncle Sparky, his scruffy beard and bear hugs. Thanks for the compassionate care from Dr. Leonard, Dr. Hubay and all the staff at Grand River Regional Cancer Centre. A special thank you to all of those who helped out during this difficult time, including Erica, Barbara, Kitt, Valdine, Michelle, Bruce, Paul and especially Mom’s best friend Doreen. Marcus, we know you would want us to go on with life. We’ll try but things won’t be the same. You were such a good man, son, brother, uncle and friend. We’ll cherish our memories forever. Rest in peace, Bro. A celebration of life is in the works. My Tribute Gift Foundation makes this online charitable giving portal web page MyTributeGift.org (the “Website”) available to you subject to your acceptance of and compliance with these terms of use (the “Terms of Use”). Your donation will be processed through My Tribute Gift Foundation for distribution to your selected charity. Your credit card transaction record will appear as My Tribute Gift Foundation. An official tax receipt for your donation will be issued by My Tribute Gift Foundation. Donations are sent out to charities at the end of each month for all donations received in that previous month. So a donation made on the first day of the month would be sent at the same time as one made on last day. Payments would be sent either by paper check or direct deposit. Please note that the there is 3% + 35¢/transaction fee for credit card processing, My Tribute Gift Foundation collects a 5% administrative fee. These fees help fund the cost of processing all donations, issuing tax receipts, and sending all appropriate information to the selected charity. These fees are assumed by your selected charity, but you will receive a receipt for the full amount of your donation. There are NO additional costs the charity has to endure to participate and accept donations through MyTributeGift.org. According to the American Institute for Philanthropy (charitywatch.org) a charitable organization is considered “Good” if they are spending less than 30% on administration and fundraising costs. My Tribute Gift Foundation helps reduce those administrative costs for charities and allows donors to contribute to lasting memorials for their loved ones.
When donating online, if the donation form has an option to add a tip, there is no convenience fee. The tip is optional and can be adjusted before you submit your donation. The amount of the tip will be displayed to you before you confirm the charge to your payment card. Tips are in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount that goes to the charitable organization. Under IRS and CRA rules, tips are not tax deductible to the donor.

Limitations of Liability. TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL MY TRIBUTE GIFT FOUNDATION OR ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, SERVICE PROVIDERS, AND AGENTS (THE "FOUNDATION PARTIES") BE LIABLE FOR ANY: (i) INDIRECT, CONSEQUENTIAL, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, COMPENSATORY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES; (ii) DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF INCOME, LOSS OF PROFITS, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, LOSS OF DATA OR DAMAGE TO PROPERTY; (iii) CLAIMS OF THIRD PARTIES; OR (iv) OTHER PECUNIARY LOSS, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OF USE, THE WEBSITE OR ANY LINKED SITE. Indemnity. YOU AGREE TO INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS THE FOUNDATION PARTIES FROM AND AGAINST ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, DEMANDS, ACTIONS, SUITS AND PROCEEDINGS BROUGHT BY YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY (COLLECTIVELY "CLAIMS") ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THIS SITE IN BREACH OF THESE TERMS OF USE OR THE INFRINGEMENT BY YOU OF ANY INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS OF ANY PERSON OR ENTITY, INCLUDING ALL LOSSES, LIABILITIES, DAMAGES, COSTS AND EXPENSES (INCLUDING ALL LEGAL FEES) ARISING FROM SUCH CLAIMS.

As a donor, you are responsible for researching the charity, understanding how your money will be used, and understanding the tax implications of your donation. We will email you a receipt, but the deductibility of your donation depends on your individual tax situation. We are not financial, tax, or legal experts. Please do not rely on our information to make decisions about your finances, taxes or legal matters. Consult a qualified professional in your jurisdiction.
Participating organizations have chosen to actively participate in the “Sponsor Program” to be represented in the Sponsor Charity array in an effort to increase their exposure and the opportunity for more memorial donations to be made to their organization. A rate structure is agreed upon and assessed on each donation processed through that program according to each organization’s individual agreement. Giving through that program has helped many organizations realize a drastic and significant increase in net donations.
If a donation form has a line item of Convenience Fee. The Convenience fee is displayed to you prior to approving the charge to your payment card. The convenience fee is in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount reaching the charitable organization. For example, a $100 donation becomes a $101.50 transaction. The convenience fee is directed immediately to a for-profit service provider. According to IRS and CRA rules the tax deductible receipt will therefore only be issued for the subtotal amount.
My Tribute Gift Foundation seeks to distribute all funds to organizations provided they have maintained active 501c3 certification in the United States or registered charity status in Canada. MTG relies on the beneficiary organizations to maintain and keep up to date contact information on file with the IRS or CRA respectively. This must be done in order for My Tribute Gift Foundation to exercise care and reasonable efforts to distribute payment promptly, without undue cost and burden to the foundation. In the event that a payment has not been deposited 12 months from issuance, the foundation reserves the right to utilize those funds in its mission to the foundation.
My Tribute Gift Foundation reserves the right to modify, change, discontinue and suspend these Terms of Use, the Website, and/or any services offered through the Website, in whole or in part, at any time, without prior notice to you. Your continued access or use of the Website after modifications to these Terms of Use have been posted on the Website shall indicate your acceptance of and agreement to be bound by these Terms of Use as modified.
