He always had the inside track on what trends were coming and which ones would impact our industry. He had incredible insight, something which I had heartfelt respect for. Harold was never at a loss for words and had a great way of looking at life. Karen, I can't begin to imagine your pain and sorrow as you grieve the loss of this amazing guy. On Monday, July 6th, 2020, Harold Mann, husband, father and grandfather, passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack at the age of 59, at the place he loved the most, “the cottage”. Harold will be forever remembered by his wife and best friend Karen, their three precious children, Jennifer (Chris), David (Sarah), Shawn (Dawn), by his grandchildren, Cohen Desveaux and Kailey Mann, and his new grandbaby expected in August. He will forever be remembered by his in-laws, Arch and Edna Brown, and is sadly missed by his numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. Harold was born in Cobourg, Ontario. He registered at Ryerson University in Business where he met his one true love, Karen. It was love at first sight for Harold, where he immediately said, “that’s the girl I’m going to marry”. With a love unmatched, the two married in their second year, and enjoyed an incredible, 40-year love affair. Harold’s entrepreneurial flair resulted in various business ventures throughout university. These included, the “Window Mann”, “The Lawn Mann”, and most notably, “Dickie Dee Ice Cream Bikes”, where Harold and Karen worked 7 days a week, all summer long, in order to make enough money to pay for their schooling, as well as their wedding. Harold’s career started with Imperial Tobacco, as a sales rep. His next large business endeavor dealt with computers and networking systems in Toronto, and then Atlanta, Georgia; where he moved with his wife, Karen and 6-month-old daughter, Jennifer. David and Shawn, their identical twin boys, were born in Atlanta 3 years later. In addition to his corporate life, Jenn and Karen’s love of horses started yet another adventure, with a stable of no less than fifteen horses at a time. He supported Jennifer in numerous early morning horse shows and supported the boys in their various sports. He helped coach many baseball seasons in Atlanta and loved every minute of it. Twelve years later (2002), the family returned to settle in Bobcaygeon to be closer to Arch and Edna Brown, the kids’ grandparents. Harold was hired by TD bank and enjoyed a 6-year career in the payments industry before becoming a founding partner of OptionPay Inc. and Real Time Merchant Services. He was very well respected and touched so many people throughout his career. One of Harold’s happiest days was when Karen retired from TD bank. This was the start of a very exciting time for them. Harold had big travel plans and loved more than anything to travel with his best friend, Claude, and his wife Tiffany. Claude, aka French Bastard, and Harold were so in-sync and shared a once in a lifetime friendship. Harold loved Mexico and couldn’t wait to go on future trips with his friends and family. A true Pisces, he loved Shadow Lake and had a regiment of regular swims all season long. He was an avid snow and water skier. The Mann ski school started early on and has had many graduates. He loved a great game of cards or a Maple Leaf Hockey game. He loved every aspect of cottage life, which included many laughs, BBQs, stories, hot tubs, games and entertaining. Harold had an incredible ability to make people feel at ease and truly loved life, he really was one of a kind. He had a great sense of humor and he had a joke for almost every occasion, was always upbeat, happy and full of energy. He always knew the right thing to say. He would help anybody with anything and was extremely clever. He was level-headed and could take the tension out of every situation with ease. He was an incredible networker, businessman and he always made people laugh. He was always listening, thinking and continuously learning. He always kept positive and was a happy-go-lucky type of guy. As a father, he was always involved and loved to participate in everything the kids would do. He and Karen built the foundation on which their children’s character was developed, and he helped to mold them into who they are today. He was incredibly proud of all three of his children and would brag about all of them, every time he got the chance. The world has been robbed of an incredible person who touched the lives of so many. A celebration of life will be held at a later date by invitation, at the family cottage. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations in memory of Harold can be made to either SickKids Foundation or The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Canada.

My Tribute Gift Foundation makes this online charitable giving portal web page MyTributeGift.org (the “Website”) available to you subject to your acceptance of and compliance with these terms of use (the “Terms of Use”). Your donation will be processed through My Tribute Gift Foundation for distribution to your selected charity. Your credit card transaction record will appear as My Tribute Gift Foundation. An official tax receipt for your donation will be issued by My Tribute Gift Foundation. Donations are sent out to charities at the end of each month for all donations received in that previous month. So a donation made on the first day of the month would be sent at the same time as one made on last day. Payments would be sent either by paper check or direct deposit. Please note that the there is 3% + 35¢/transaction fee for credit card processing, My Tribute Gift Foundation collects a 5% administrative fee. These fees help fund the cost of processing all donations, issuing tax receipts, and sending all appropriate information to the selected charity. These fees are assumed by your selected charity, but you will receive a receipt for the full amount of your donation. There are NO additional costs the charity has to endure to participate and accept donations through MyTributeGift.org. According to the American Institute for Philanthropy (charitywatch.org) a charitable organization is considered “Good” if they are spending less than 30% on administration and fundraising costs. My Tribute Gift Foundation helps reduce those administrative costs for charities and allows donors to contribute to lasting memorials for their loved ones.
When donating online, if the donation form has an option to add a tip, there is no convenience fee. The tip is optional and can be adjusted before you submit your donation. The amount of the tip will be displayed to you before you confirm the charge to your payment card. Tips are in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount that goes to the charitable organization. Under IRS and CRA rules, tips are not tax deductible to the donor.

Indemnity. As a donor, you are responsible for researching the charity, understanding how your money will be used, and understanding the tax implications of your donation. We will email you a receipt, but the deductibility of your donation depends on your individual tax situation. We are not financial, tax, or legal experts. Please do not rely on our information to make decisions about your finances, taxes or legal matters. Consult a qualified professional in your jurisdiction.
Participating organizations have chosen to actively participate in the “Sponsor Program” to be represented in the Sponsor Charity array in an effort to increase their exposure and the opportunity for more memorial donations to be made to their organization. A rate structure is agreed upon and assessed on each donation processed through that program according to each organization’s individual agreement. Giving through that program has helped many organizations realize a drastic and significant increase in net donations.
If a donation form has a line item of Convenience Fee. The Convenience fee is displayed to you prior to approving the charge to your payment card. The convenience fee is in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount reaching the charitable organization. For example, a $100 donation becomes a $101.50 transaction. The convenience fee is directed immediately to a for-profit service provider. According to IRS and CRA rules the tax deductible receipt will therefore only be issued for the subtotal amount.
My Tribute Gift Foundation seeks to distribute all funds to organizations provided they have maintained active 501c3 certification in the United States or registered charity status in Canada. MTG relies on the beneficiary organizations to maintain and keep up to date contact information on file with the IRS or CRA respectively. This must be done in order for My Tribute Gift Foundation to exercise care and reasonable efforts to distribute payment promptly, without undue cost and burden to the foundation. In the event that a payment has not been deposited 12 months from issuance, the foundation reserves the right to utilize those funds in its mission to the foundation.
My Tribute Gift Foundation reserves the right to modify, change, discontinue and suspend these Terms of Use, the Website, and/or any services offered through the Website, in whole or in part, at any time, without prior notice to you. Your continued access or use of the Website after modifications to these Terms of Use have been posted on the Website shall indicate your acceptance of and agreement to be bound by these Terms of Use as modified.
