William Brown

The family is devastated to announce the passing of William John Brown at London‘s Health Sciences Centre- University Hospital on Friday, March 6, 2020. He is survived by his wife and best friend Bonnie (nee Skillen) of 52 wonderful years. Dearly loved and admired by his sister Mary Paul and her husband Edward and Bonnie’s siblings Heather and Rod Leigh, Linda Bennett, Thomas Skillen, Lois Skillen and Bill Kelly. Cherished uncle to his nieces and nephews and will fondly be remembered by the many Skillen cousins. Predeceased by his parents John and Margaret Brown, brother in laws Bruce and Gary, and niece Andrea. Bill was a career long proud employee of Imperial Oil working in Montreal and Toronto head offices. Over the years he enjoyed his buddies at the model railroad clubs in Ontario and Florida. He was an enthusiastic sports fan, especially football. In his early years Bill relished curling and downhill skiing, the latter which led to various ski holidays in Canada, US, and Europe. Bill thus became an avid traveller in spite of his mobility challenges of living with multiple sclerosis for over 48 years. After 20 years of cottaging in Muskoka the warm weather drew Bill and Bonnie to a winter home in Florida and the pleasures of cruising. Bill was fun loving, witty, cheerful, and charming, never complaining-an inspiration to his family and all who witnessed his strength, determination, and love of life. His faith never faltered throughout his life. In keeping with Bill’s wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2020 at St. Paul’s United Church, Tillsonburg where the family will welcome guests from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. followed by the memorial service for Bill at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Ontario or St. Paul’s United Church, Tillsonburg can be made by contacting Ostrander’s Funeral Home Limited, 43 Bidwell St. Tillsonburg, N4G 3T6 (519) 842-5221 Who have been intrusted with arrangements.
