Sarah (Sadie) Pelley
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Sarah (Sadie) Elizabeth Pelley (nee Philpott) announce her passing on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Care Center, Grand Falls-Windsor. After battling cancer for three years. She was 81 years of age. She was predeceased by her husband George Pelley; parents, Elias and Ellen (Terry) Philpott; brother, Andrew; sisters Mary and Norah. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her sons: Sean (Joanne), Andrew (Wanda); daughter, Kim (Trent) Langdon; her grandchildren: Sean-James, Tristan, Mackenzie, Aidan, Trevor, Teri-Ann; brother, Leonard Philpott as well as a large number of friends and family.
Sadie was born on August 25, 1939 and grew up in Bishop’s Falls where she worked at Cooke’s Drive-in Lounge, logging camps and doing housekeeping for a few friends and neighbors for many years. Sadie enjoyed berry picking and digging worms up on the hill behind her house. Sadie loved having her grandchildren around especially sleepovers. She loved a good joke and always had a story or two to tell, there was never a dull moment around her. She loved going on road trips, sightseeing and meeting up with strangers and telling them a story as well. She lived a life full of love and laughter. Sadie lost her battle with cancer after being diagnosed three years ago, April 2018. She fought the battle long and hard.
Following Covid-19 restrictions visitation and funeral service will be held for family and invited friends.
Father Joseph will conduct the funeral mass from Sacred Heart Parish, Bishop’s Falls on Monday, April 5, 2021 at 1 p.m. with interment at a late date.
Pallbearers are: Andrew Pelley (son), Sean Pelley (son), Aiden Pelley (grandson), Trevor Pelley (grandson), Tristan Pelley (grandson), Sean-James O’Dea (grandson). Honorary pallbearer is Trent Langdon (son-in-law).
The Pelley family would like to express heartfelt thanks and appreciations to Compassion Home Care and the nurses on 4B and Doctor Smith for taking care of our precious Mother.
