Inez Corrine Tollefson “Haukaas” was born on May 2, 1925 to Helge and Alma (Fagerlie) Haukaas. Inez was born on a farm southwest of Sacred Heart. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Inez grew up in town where she attended school and graduated in 1943. After graduating, she worked at the Red Owl Store and Farmer’s Merchant State Bank as an assistant cashier. On June 25, 1950, Inez was united in marriage to her loving beau Maurice Tollefson. Together, they raised two children on the farm outside of Sacred Heart. Inez was a dedicated member of the Hawk Creek Lutheran Church where she served as organist and choir director for 25 years. She also served on the WELCA board. Inez always enjoyed quilting, whether it was with a group of ladies at church or in her spare time at home. Inez and Maurice loved traveling together all over the U.S. and Norway.
Family was very important to Inez, especially her grandchildren. Many summers were spent at Sibley State Park camping with Maurice and the grandkids. She always supported their interests and never missed a school program. Many fond memories were made on the farm also. She always welcomed visitors to the house where nobody ever went hungry, and the smell of her famous cookies warmed the hearts of many. Inez was blessed with six great-grandchildren whom she adored. She loved it when they would run up to her and jump onto her lap.
Inez was preceded in death by her parents, sister, and husband. She is survived by her two children: Mark Tollefson of Sacred Heart and Julie (Steve) Olander of Clara City; her grandchildren: Jeremy (Angela) Olander of Willmar, Josie Olander of Willmar, and Lara (Dan) Hill of New Hampshire; and her great-grandchildren: Emma, Ava, Ryder, Zoey, Eleanor, and Alyson.
Blessed Be Her Memory
