Alford "Bud" Fehr, a longtime resident of Kinnelon, died Saturday, February 5, 2022 at home in the care of his children. He was 87.
Born in Easton, PA, Bud was the son of Robert and Alva Fehr. After losing his mom to tuberculosis before he was one year old, he was cared for by his grandparents before moving to New Jersey.
While attending Butler High School, he fell in love with his classmate, Dessel Card. The two graduated together in 1952, and in 1955, they wed, and settled together in Kinnelon.
Following his time in the Marine Corps, Bud became a licensed electrician and spent his career running his own business. Though he only had two children, he was "like a father" to many.
He was a longtime and active member of Bloomingdale United Methodist Church, serving on its Board of Trustees. In past years he also served on the Kinnelon Board of Adjustment.
In his 30's, Bud took to the sport of snowmobiling and embarked on a 50-year love affair with it. He also enjoyed restoring vintage cars and helping to maintain the Kinnelon-Boonton trail of the NY-NJ Trail Conference which could be accessed right off his property.
He will be dearly missed by many. He is lovingly survived by his children, Glenn Fehr and Kathleen Fehr McClure and her husband, Don; his half-brother Ronald Fehr; and his grandchildren, Adrian and Duncan McClure. He was predeceased by his wife Dessel in 2015.
A private family graveside service will be held at 1:30pm on Friday, February 11,2022 at Mount Rest Cemetery in Butler.
A memorial service will be held 1pm on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at the Bloomingdale United Methodist Church, 65 Main Street, Bloomingdale, NJ 07403.
