Louis G. Marquardt, 78 of the Succasunna section of Roxbury Township passed away on Sunday June 27, 2021 with his wife Linda and her sister Kathy by his side.
Born on May 9, 1943 in Passaic, NJ to the late Louis W. and Helen (Poppre) Marquardt, Louis grew up in Clifton until age 16 and has resided in Succasunna since 1984. He attended Don Bosco Prep from 1957-59 and graduated from Sparta High School Class of 1961. Louis earned his bachelors degree in Sociology from St. Bonaventure University in 1965. He enlisted in the United Sates Air Force in 1966 and was stationed at Amarillo Air Force Base in Texas from 1966-68. Louis also earned a second bachelors degree in Accounting from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1982.
Louis worked as a Probation Officer for the County of Morris where he obtained the rank of Senior Officer. He then moved up to the Superior Court of NJ Criminal Division as a Court Services Supervisor from 1989 until his retirement in 2008.
Louis loved playing golf and was a member of Panther Valley Country Club in Allamuchy, NJ. He also enjoyed bowling, boating on Lake Hopatcong and was an avid college basketball fan, especially the Seton Hall Pirates. Louis was also a diehard Giants fan.
Survivors include his wife Linda (Togno), sister in law Kathryn Ciardi and husband Ernest, brothers in law Paul Togno and wife Mary Ellen and Thomas Togno.
Louis' Life Celebration will include visiting on Wednesday June 30, 2021 from 2:00 – 6:00 PM at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be offered at 10:00 AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 61 Main Street, Flanders, NJ 07836. All are invited to meet at church for Mass. Louis will be laid to rest at Gate of Heaven Chapel Mausoleum in East Hanover. Due to mausoleum restrictions, please omit flowers.
