Janet Walsh Connor, 90, passed away Tuesday at Crouse Community Center in Morrisville, NY. A lifelong resident of Syracuse, Janet was born July 19, 1931, spent summers on Tupper Lake with her three siblings and their maternal aunts, and graduated as valedictorian from St. Anthony of Padua High School in 1948. She earned a scholarship to St. Joseph’s College of Nursing and worked for the Red Cross as an RN. Janet married Marty Connor on January 30, 1954, and raised six children at their home on Geddes Street. In 1967 they moved to Onondaga Hill where they welcomed a seventh child. As an adult, Janet earned an additional degree at Onondaga Community College and became a licensed insurance broker, assisting Marty with his insurance business. Janet enjoyed skiing in New York and Colorado and was one of the first investors at Labrador Mountain Ski Area. She was an avid tennis player at Pine Grove Tennis Club in Camillus, on the court at her home, in the National Senior Games, and was a devoted gardener: her six-foot, deep blue hydrangeas were her particular pride. Janet was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Michael’s Church on Onondaga Hill; prior to that, she was a communicant of St. Anthony's and then Our Lady of Lourdes parishes. She volunteered at Francis House, a home for persons with terminal illnesses, and frequently encouraged her children to donate to its mission rather than buy gifts for her. Throughout her life, Janet was a blessing to her family and friends, hosting many family and church parties, school field trips, and tennis gatherings at her open and welcoming home. Her big bright smile and sweet voice will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her. Janet is predeceased by her husband, Martin Charles Connor; parents, Leo and Mary Rose Savard Walsh; son, Brian Thomas Connor; grandson, Nathan C. Harter; and twin brother, James Walsh. She is survived by her children, Shane Michael Connor of Gonzales, TX; Mary Lynn "Kelly" Harter and her husband, Christopher, of Madison, NY; Martin Charles Connor and his wife, Meisje (Johntz), of Melbourne, FL; Ellen (Kaiser) Baird (Brian's widow) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Terrence Gerard Connor and his husband, Gregory Mack Swalwell, of Dallas, TX; Daniel Walsh Connor and his wife, Sonia (Agosto Vazquez), of Milford, CT; and Colleen Marie Connor and her husband, Matthew E. Leno, of Marblehead, MA; brother, Robert Walsh of Seaview, TX; sister, Carol Walsh O'Hara of Englewood, FL; and many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Services: Calling hours will be 5 to 7 pm Monday, July 26 at Tindall Funeral Home, 1921 W. Genesee St., Syracuse, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 am Tuesday, July 27 at the Church of St. Michael and St. Peter, 4782 W. Seneca Turnpike. Burial will follow in Onondaga Valley Cemetery. My Tribute Gift Foundation makes this online charitable giving portal web page MyTributeGift.org (the “Website”) available to you subject to your acceptance of and compliance with these terms of use (the “Terms of Use”). Your donation will be processed through My Tribute Gift Foundation for distribution to your selected charity. Your credit card transaction record will appear as My Tribute Gift Foundation. An official tax receipt for your donation will be issued by My Tribute Gift Foundation. Donations are sent out to charities at the end of each month for all donations received in that previous month. So a donation made on the first day of the month would be sent at the same time as one made on last day. Payments would be sent either by paper check or direct deposit. Please note that the there is 3% + 35¢/transaction fee for credit card processing, My Tribute Gift Foundation collects a 5% administrative fee. These fees help fund the cost of processing all donations, issuing tax receipts, and sending all appropriate information to the selected charity. These fees are assumed by your selected charity, but you will receive a receipt for the full amount of your donation. There are NO additional costs the charity has to endure to participate and accept donations through MyTributeGift.org. According to the American Institute for Philanthropy (charitywatch.org) a charitable organization is considered “Good” if they are spending less than 30% on administration and fundraising costs. My Tribute Gift Foundation helps reduce those administrative costs for charities and allows donors to contribute to lasting memorials for their loved ones.
When donating online, if the donation form has an option to add a tip, there is no convenience fee. The tip is optional and can be adjusted before you submit your donation. The amount of the tip will be displayed to you before you confirm the charge to your payment card. Tips are in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount that goes to the charitable organization. Under IRS and CRA rules, tips are not tax deductible to the donor.
You warrant and represent that all information and materials you provide to My Tribute Gift Foundation, through the Website or otherwise, are accurate and truthful and do not violate third party rights. Indemnity. YOU AGREE TO INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS THE FOUNDATION PARTIES FROM AND AGAINST ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, DEMANDS, ACTIONS, SUITS AND PROCEEDINGS BROUGHT BY YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY (COLLECTIVELY "CLAIMS") ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THIS SITE IN BREACH OF THESE TERMS OF USE OR THE INFRINGEMENT BY YOU OF ANY INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS OF ANY PERSON OR ENTITY, INCLUDING ALL LOSSES, LIABILITIES, DAMAGES, COSTS AND EXPENSES (INCLUDING ALL LEGAL FEES) ARISING FROM SUCH CLAIMS.
If in any part of these Terms of Use is held, by a court of competent jurisdiction, to be invalid or unenforceable, such part of these Terms of Use shall be eliminated to the extent permitted in that jurisdiction, for purposes of that jurisdiction, and the remaining Terms of Use shall otherwise remain in full force and effect.
These Terms of Use and your use of the Website are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and all federal laws of Canada applicable therein. The courts of the Province of Ontario shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of these Terms of Use or your use of the Website.
These Terms of Use constitute the entire agreement between you and My Tribute Gift Foundation with respect to the Website, except as we may explicitly agree otherwise in writing.. No delay or failure to exercise any right with respect to these Terms of Use shall be construed as a waiver by My Tribute Gift Foundation.
As a donor, you are responsible for researching the charity, understanding how your money will be used, and understanding the tax implications of your donation. We will email you a receipt, but the deductibility of your donation depends on your individual tax situation. We are not financial, tax, or legal experts. Please do not rely on our information to make decisions about your finances, taxes or legal matters. Consult a qualified professional in your jurisdiction.
Participating organizations have chosen to actively participate in the “Sponsor Program” to be represented in the Sponsor Charity array in an effort to increase their exposure and the opportunity for more memorial donations to be made to their organization. A rate structure is agreed upon and assessed on each donation processed through that program according to each organization’s individual agreement. Giving through that program has helped many organizations realize a drastic and significant increase in net donations.
If a donation form has a line item of Convenience Fee. The Convenience fee is displayed to you prior to approving the charge to your payment card. The convenience fee is in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount reaching the charitable organization. For example, a $100 donation becomes a $101.50 transaction. The convenience fee is directed immediately to a for-profit service provider. According to IRS and CRA rules the tax deductible receipt will therefore only be issued for the subtotal amount.
My Tribute Gift Foundation seeks to distribute all funds to organizations provided they have maintained active 501c3 certification in the United States or registered charity status in Canada. MTG relies on the beneficiary organizations to maintain and keep up to date contact information on file with the IRS or CRA respectively. This must be done in order for My Tribute Gift Foundation to exercise care and reasonable efforts to distribute payment promptly, without undue cost and burden to the foundation. In the event that a payment has not been deposited 12 months from issuance, the foundation reserves the right to utilize those funds in its mission to the foundation.
My Tribute Gift Foundation reserves the right to modify, change, discontinue and suspend these Terms of Use, the Website, and/or any services offered through the Website, in whole or in part, at any time, without prior notice to you. Your continued access or use of the Website after modifications to these Terms of Use have been posted on the Website shall indicate your acceptance of and agreement to be bound by these Terms of Use as modified. It is your responsibility to review these Terms of Use regularly.
